Starting this October 15, 2025, hygienists are required to complete a continuing education course Emergency Office Procedures every renewal period. *Note that after 10/15/25, Emergency Office Procedures is defined as a Board-approved training course of at least 2 hours, consistent with current curricula in CODA-accredited schools, in identification and management of conditions that may result in medical emergencies in the course of dental care. CPR will be its own separate course. She is the author of Medical Emergencies: Essentials for the Dental Professional, now in its updated second edition. Dr. Grimes holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, two master’s degrees, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Bridgeport, Fones School of Dental Hygiene.
