Youth Art Camp 2025 The theme for Art Camp 2025 is Then and Now, Near and Far. This summer camp will consist of five weeks with unique World Culture related themes ranging from local Appalachian handcrafting traditions to Art History focused-projects from cultures around the world. Children will make a variety of projects each week including paper basket weaving, exploring ancient cave art, studying brushwork of the French Impressionists, or even learning about animals all around the world!   Art Around The World June 23rd–27th Campers will begin to expand their horizons during this exploratory week of art camp! The week will focus on various continents like South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Each day campers will create two pieces of artwork one based on ancient or traditional work from the continent of origin and another piece based on a contemporary artist from the continent. This will give campers a scope of the range of artwork created from the region that we will discuss that day.    When purchasing tickets please select the correct age group for your child.   Read our FAQ here. Then and Now, Near and Far. This summer, teens will have the opportunity to learn about art-making past and present, close to home, and far away. Week One will cover ancient art-making techniques from around the world. Week Two will focus on modern and contemporary western art movements and their art processes. Week Three will explore regional Appalachian crafts, and Week Four will investigate art from around the world with a highlight on Indigenous contemporary art. July’s special Week Five will tap into biomes, nature, and animal art as a precursor to future programming on our incoming Worrell Animal Art Collection!   THIS CAMP:   FAR: Art Around The World June 23rd–27th  9AM-4PM $250/week (Call for multi week or multi teen family discount) Art Lab Building next to WKMA Description: Teens will expand their horizons during this week investigating art with a focus on contemporary and traditional indigenous creators from around the world. Topics covered will include Native American and First Nations Indigenous Art, Aboriginal Art, music and dance and performance from around the world. Youth Art Camp 2025 The theme for Art Camp 2025 is Then and Now, Near and Far. This summer camp will consist of five weeks with unique World Culture related themes ranging from local Appalachian handcrafting traditions to Art History focused-projects from cultures around the world. Children will make a variety of projects each week including paper basket weaving, exploring ancient cave art, studying brushwork of the French Impressionists, or even learning about animals all around the world!   Art in the Animal World July 7th–11th For this final week of art camp, we will be making artwork inspired by all the creatures who inhabit our earth furry, scaly, and otherwise! As an exciting precursor for the Worrell Collection of Animal Art opening next year, this week of art camp will be so much fun as kids will get a chance to create art based on all kinds of different animals. We will use various artistic mediums and learn fun animal facts along the way. Here is your opportunity to get a glimpse into the world of darkroom film photography and alternative processes. Third in a 6-session series, Essential Darkroom Techniques introduces students to the analog printing process in the darkroom. Students will use their developed black and white film to make photographic prints using enlargers and traditional darkroom chemistry. Students will explore different darkroom techniques for enlarging photographs and then ultimately experience the magic of watching your prints come to life in the darkroom. This all day class allows time for 1 on 1 time with the instructor to ask any questions and receive feedback on your work. All supplies will be provided, except for a 35mm film camera and developed B&W film.  Students do not need to register for the entire series, they can take only the classes that work for them.  Morgan Ford is a Fine Art Photographer from Johnson City, TN. Morgan has been an artist all of her life, but after her first 35mm photography course in High School she fell in love with the process of light and catching that brief moment in time. At the age of 20 years old she moved to California and studied photography at Brooks Institute of Photography where she learned to shoot and develop her own film. Morgan has had exhibits all over the country showing her Fine Art B&W Photography of beautiful countrysides, wild horses, and dilapidated buildings. She currently resides in the Appalachian Mountains where she has a studio, darkroom, and large garden.  Registration Deadline: July 5

Students should be comfortable with basic computer use, such as using a mouse and keyboard, opening and closing applications and saving files Audience: Teen-Adult Art Lab’s Adobe Mini Bootcamp training sessions are intensive introductions to Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, or Premiere Pro, following the official Adobe Classroom in a Book training materials. The goal is to develop a working knowledge of the programs, and their possibilities and capabilities, as well as successfully create and edit images, video, or motion graphics. The short Mini special format covers the most common tools and tasks, but cannot get as in-depth as the regular 8 session Bootcamps. Both beginners and more experienced users will benefit from these courses. Photoshop is an essential tool and industry standard for designers, web developers, photographers, and other creative professionals. It is used for image editing and retouching, graphic design, website mock-ups, digital imaging, illustration and more.
