Join a Cedar Mountain Battlefield guide on a battlefield walking tour and gain insight into the chronology of the battle, learn stories of the soldiers and civilians impacted, and visit battlefield landmarks. The tour explores terrain largely unchanged since the Civil War. Tours are held at 10 am on the second and fourth Saturday of the month. The tour starts at the Cedar Mountain Visitor's Center at 9465 General Winder Road, Rapidan, VA 22733 and typically takes about 45 minutes. The tour route is over uneven terrain and, in both sunny and shaded locations. Comfortable walking shoes, bottled water, and bug spray in the warmer months are advised. Donations are welcome and help support battlefield preservation, stewardship, and education efforts. To register for the tour, please email [email protected].

If so, come celebrate Mother’s Day at the Inn & Tavern at Meander, a beautiful 1766 historic country inn offering accommodations and casual dining, surrounded by 80 acres of rolling landscapes in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We’ll have a delicious brunch buffet prepared by Executive Chef Greer Brannock with roasted salmon, orange glazed chicken, eggs benedict, white chocolate bread pudding and more! Guests can choose from a robust menu of local Virginia wines. Reservations are available starting at 11am with a last seating at 2:30pm and the brunch buffet is $48 per person (children 12 and under are $24 per person). The Inn is packed with history and America’s forefathers have dined here. George Washington stayed on the property for over a month after the French and Indian War, and Meander was a favorite retreat for Thomas Jefferson, who was a regular dinner guest on his way to the White House from Monticello.
