Detailed agendas   Directions Live stream and video archive Meetings begin with an opening prayer and brief closed session prior to 7pm (check agenda for specific start time.)  The regular meeting begins promptly at 7pm with an agenda that includes a public comment session and topics relating to budget changes, town services, community safety, zoning/ordinance issues, public hearings, policy updates, and staff and committee reports and recommendations. Citizens are encouraged to attend to learn about current town prriorities and to share suggestions, concerns or issues during the public comment section. Join us at 6 pm as author Jeffrey Dale Lofton discusses his new book, Red Clay Suzie. This isn't just about reading words; it's an opportunity to hear directly from the author about his deeply personal and award-winning book. Red Clay Suzie is a fictionalized memoir told through Jeffrey's unique perspective as an outsider—a gay man living with a disability in a conservative family and community in the Deep South. Through the character of Philbet, Jeffrey hopes to provide a "roadmap of sorts" for fellow outsiders. He wants them to understand that bullies are "paper predators" who only have power if it's given to them, and that their bodies, imperfections and all, are beautiful and precious. He encourages those on the fringes not to hide or withdraw, assuring them there's always a caring, trustworthy person in their "concentric circles of humanity." Above all, he emphasizes that the quality of one's mind and heart is what truly matters, and that "love, real love, is never wrong." This is the message he wished his younger self had known, and it's why he wrote Red Clay Suzie.   Book signing and reading will be followed by Q&A session. Ten-percent of the tasting-room sales will benefit the Literacy Council of Madison County.

Join a Cedar Mountain Battlefield guide on a battlefield walking tour and gain insight into the chronology of the battle, learn stories of the soldiers and civilians impacted, and visit battlefield landmarks. The tour explores terrain largely unchanged since the Civil War. Tours are held at 10 am on the second and fourth Saturday of the month. The tour starts at the Cedar Mountain Visitor's Center at 9465 General Winder Road, Rapidan, VA 22733 and typically takes about 45 minutes. The tour route is over uneven terrain and, in both sunny and shaded locations. Comfortable walking shoes, bottled water, and bug spray in the warmer months are advised. Donations are welcome and help support battlefield preservation, stewardship, and education efforts. To register for the tour, please email cedarmtntours@gmail.com.
