Hospice of the Piedmont’s Kids’ Grief and Healing Camp offers a compassionate, creative space for children and teens to explore their grief in a supportive community. Open to all youth—regardless of whether their loved one received hospice care—the program helps young people feel seen, understood, and less alone. Grief can be especially challenging for children and adolescents, who are often overlooked in times of loss. Our camp provides a safe place to express difficult emotions such as sadness, anger, or fear, while building healthy coping skills that can support them long after camp ends. Children and teens ages 5–17 (or 18 if still in high school) who have experienced the death of someone close to them are invited to attend. Priority is given to first-time campers. Throughout the day, participants will connect with peers who understand what they’re going through, helping them recognize that their feelings are normal and shared by others. This full-day camp experience features expressive arts, music, and fun indoor winter activities designed to promote healing while allowing kids to simply be kids. Campers will leave with new tools, new connections, and a renewed sense of hope.

Our learners come from many backgrounds and cultures, and they bring enthusiasm, curiosity, and a deep desire to improve their English for work, family, and daily life. No teaching experience is required; just patience, kindness, and a willingness to learn alongside your students. We provide training, curriculum, and ongoing support.   What You’ll Do Teach or co-teach an adult ESL class (morning or evening options) Help learners build speaking, listening, reading, and everyday communication skills Create a welcoming, supportive classroom environment Use CLC-provided lesson plans, textbooks, and activities Make a lasting difference in the lives of newcomers and long-term residents PS : Group setting or One on one. Join a Cedar Mountain Battlefield guide on a battlefield walking tour and gain insight into the chronology of the battle, learn stories of the soldiers and civilians impacted, and visit battlefield landmarks. The tour explores terrain largely unchanged since the Civil War. Tours are held at 10 am on the second and fourth Saturday of the month. The tour starts at the Cedar Mountain Visitor's Center at 9465 General Winder Road, Rapidan, VA 22733 and typically takes about 45 minutes. The tour route is over uneven terrain and, in both sunny and shaded locations. Comfortable walking shoes, bottled water, and bug spray in the warmer months are advised. Donations are welcome and help support battlefield preservation, stewardship, and education efforts. To register for the tour, please email [email protected].
