Music By The Bay has a long tradition at Fort Monroe drawing hundreds to Continental Park in the summer for live music performances. This program series will take place once a month in the summer. August 6th is Emo/00's Night and will be the last concert in the series so don't miss this opportunity. Mental Health Organizations/Non-profits will join us starting at 5 pm with giveaways information games and the concert portion will begin at 6 pm.Music kicks off with local bands The Red Weather Band established in 2018 is a cornerstone of the Emo and Pop-Punk genres. Walking Tour: The Movement of a LegacyThe African Landing Memorial is a one-of-a-kind sculpture and site, which is designated as a UNESCO Site of Memory on the Slave Route Project, that commemorates a singular moment that reverberates through the fabric of more than 400 years of American history—the landing of the first Africans in Virginia in August 1619, at Point Comfort. The memorial site and future art reflect the true narrative of the events leading to the creation of the institution of slavery in what later became the United States.
