Anacortes Charm Walk May 2, 2026 - May 16, 2026 Discover the charm of downtown Anacortes while collecting unique charms from local businesses to create your very own spring nautical charm bracelet or necklace!  Perfect for treating yourself, or gifting for Mother's Day.  Or, make it a fun activity to do with your mom!  How it works: Register for your bracelet or necklace using the registration link. A limited number will be available for cash purchase in the Visitor Information Center (weekends only).  Pick up your bracelet beginning April 27th from the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce (weekdays) or the Visitor Information Center (weekends). First, we will coach you through building a mug, step-by-step from a slab of clay. You’ll learn to decorate and texturize your mug with all types of fun tools like stamps, rollers, and more. Then glaze your mug, choosing from over 30 Wonderglaze colors to make your project pop! Or, for a small up-charge, choose to bisque fire your mug first, then pick from over 50 premium potter’s glazes. Made a mug with us before? Great! In this workshop we’ll teach you how to refine and improve your mug-making skills with new techniques and tools. Refine the lip, add character to the interior and base, make a comfier handle, or put a bird on it! We’ll get more creative than ever! Muffins, mimosas, coffee, tea, and juice included! Every Saturday we choose a unique island destination as part of the Island Express Charters Adventure Series.   In 2025, we launched a seasonal Adventure Series designed to help people get outside and explore our beautiful backyard at an economical fare. Most Adventure Series trips are just $45 roundtrip for adults (a 50% savings from our standard fares), making non-ferry served island access more attainable for our community. Our Adventure Series focuses on creating space for people to connect with the natural world: hiking island trails, picnicking on remote beaches, visiting marine state parks, and enjoying bird and wildlife observation through a “create your own adventure” format. These trips are self-guided experiences - we provide the ride and the access, and you set the pace and plan your day. There’s no formal guide on site, giving you the freedom to explore the island on your own terms and craft an adventure that’s entirely your own. Saturday, May 9th, step ashore at the county dock in Olga and enjoy one of Orcas Island’s most charming waterfront, historical stops. Everything is an easy stroll away, making it the perfect relaxed outing. Visit the historic Olga Store for coffee, provisions, and local goods. For more than 100 years, this historic store has served as the heart of Olga, originally supporting the area’s early farming and strawberry growing families. For a true outdoor island dining experience, sit waterfront to savor the fresh shellfish and seafood at the Buck Bay Shellfish Farm.  And don’t miss the beautiful handcrafted pieces at Olga Pottery. With scenic views of Buck Bay and a laid-back island vibe, Olga is a delightful way to experience Orcas Island! Love whales? The Salish Sea? Have a passion for learning? Eager to learn ways you can help in conservation efforts to protect them? Then this is the program for you! Join us on the water for 5 hours of learning and exploring. We will not only set out to see whales, we will set out to learn more about them and steps we can take to ensure their future. This trip take place on a small, intimate vessel with only 6 total passengers in addition to our knowledgeable crew. We will depart from Skyline Marina in Anacortes with nature as our guide for where to go. The day will include onboard lessons and a potential island stop if the route allows. While we cannot guarantee the sightings of specific wildlife, our knowledgeable crew will make the most of our time on the water setting out to see all that the Salish Sea has to offer!

Every Saturday we choose a unique island destination as part of the Island Express Charters Adventure Series.   In 2025, we launched a seasonal Adventure Series designed to help people get outside and explore our beautiful backyard at an economical fare. Saturday, May 16th we will be heading to Burrows Island Lighthouse. A docent from the Northwest Schooner Society will guide you through the Burrows Island Light Station – sharing stories of the keepers who lived in isolation, kept the light burning, and watching over these busy waters for more than a century. You will step inside the buildings, wander the headland, and soak up the views that few get to see. Pack a picnic, and enjoy lunch overlooking the strait – watching ships and wildlife move through the strait just as the keepers once did.   Price: $45 roundtrip adults *50% of the fare price will be donated to Northwest Schooner Society to help continue their restoration process.   Moderate stair climbing is involved, children ages 12+, no pets please The boat will depart Skyline Marina at 3pm with a 15 minute travel time to the island. Join an adventure with purpose. Every Puffin you spot and every observation you make contributes to ongoing research and conservation efforts. Beyond the boat, your ticket helps local students experience the Salish Sea for the first time—sparking the next generation of scientists or ocean stewards. Trip Highlights: Boat around Smith and Minor Islands, where some of the last Tufted Puffins in the Salish Sea can be seen nesting, fishing, and soaring over the waves. Each tour offers a unique exploration of the Puffins’ lives at Smith Island — and with luck, some rare species sightings as well like our Horned Puffin! During spring tours, participants have the possibility to observe Puffin breeding behavior, July-August tours have the opportunity to observe Puffins carrying forage fish to feed to their chicks, and September tours have the opportunity to see Puffins in all stages of their breeding to non-breeding plumage change before they head back out to the Pacific Ocean for our winter!
