Join us for a magical summer evening on the Salish Sea! We’ll explore open waters and rocky shorelines while learning about the Salish Sea ecosystem and its diverse inhabitants. Wildlife sightings change daily! Your knowledgeable naturalists and captain will steer you towards exciting encounters while teaching lessons ranging from natural history to bioaccumulation! You’ll have the option to participate in casual wildlife observation surveys from the boat. All participants will receive a post-tour trip report and species checklist. ?? Vessel: Koinonia – a 48-foot vessel with cozy indoor seating, outdoor viewing decks, and a capacity of 40 passengers. Ticket Options: ?? Regular Adult Ticket: $149 ?? Summer STaRS (Student Training as Research Scientists) is a five day research adventure through the San Juan Islands, with four boat-based days and one day exploring on land. This camp is designed for students age 14-18, and is a great way for students to explore and connect with each other as curious marine explorers. Campers will practice field research techniques, utilize the scientific method, review relevant scientific literature, perform data collection and analysis, and hone their observation skills. This is a perfect program for students interested in marine science careers!

Join an adventure with purpose. Every Puffin you spot and every observation you make contributes to ongoing research and conservation efforts. Beyond the boat, your ticket helps local students experience the Salish Sea for the first time—sparking the next generation of scientists or ocean stewards. Trip Highlights: Boat around Smith and Minor Islands, where some of the last Tufted Puffins in the Salish Sea can be seen nesting, fishing, and soaring over the waves. Each tour offers a unique exploration of the Puffins’ lives at Smith Island — and with luck, some rare species sightings as well like our Horned Puffin! During spring tours, participants have the possibility to observe Puffin breeding behavior, July-August tours have the opportunity to observe Puffins carrying forage fish to feed to their chicks, and September tours have the opportunity to see Puffins in all stages of their breeding to non-breeding plumage change before they head back out to the Pacific Ocean for our winter!
