Join us for a fun and educational workshop focusing on Home Composting Methods resulting in Waste Reduction/ Diversion. Learn and share ideas, building new skills to generate high quality compost for your garden/houseplants. We'll also learn about new guidelines regarding the disposal of compostable materials that will impact many Whatcom County residents in the coming years.This workshop includes a presentation on Composting and Vermiculture and we'll get to see a Bookworm Bin in action! Registration is required as seating is limited. This program is sponsored by WSU Whatcom County Extension and Blaine CORE (Community Organization for Resources and Education).

Do you love to paint, draw, or simply get creative? This unstructured program will allow you to create something unique for this year's Whatcomics while socializing with other art-loving teens. Whether you want to paint, create an original character, or just doodle in your sketchbook, this night is for you. Whatcomics is a teen art book published annually by Teen Services of the Whatcom County Library System. Area teens in grades 6 through 12 are invited to submit their original, 2-D artwork in a variety of styles including pen and ink, colored pencil, watercolor, comics, and digital art. The committee considers all levels of art that display originality, creativity and craft. Entries accepted between September 1 and October 31.
