There’s a reason we learn the scientific terms for genus and species, and it’s not just to sound like smart-asses. So says Rose Tursi, who will join us at our May 14 meeting to talk about “Demystifying Latin Binomials.” Her presentation will cover why we use binomial terms in mushrooming (like Cantharellus formosus) the basics behind modern Latin grammatical forms and the evolution of commonly used Latin terms. Rose promises to breathe fire and life into the topic, enliven it with humor, and provide tips that “will make you look like a genius at any cocktail party.” Please join us in person at the Rotunda (building 11) at Olympic College, Bremerton.
