The Ferndale City Council is the legislative and policy-making body of city government.  Council members are responsible for passing laws through ordinance and policies through resolutions, and approve the annual budget initially proposed by the mayor. The City Council meets at 6 p.m. the first and third Mondays of each month (unless it’s a holiday, then they meet the Tuesday immediately after the Monday holiday). Meetings are held at the City Hall Annex, 5694 Second Avenue. Council members are elected at-large for four-year overlapping terms. Councilmembers are paid $572 a month.

Join United Way for their 2025 ALICE Breakfast, happening on Tuesday, November 18 at Silver Reef Casino from 8-9AM. Learn about the barriers to stability facing nearly half of Whatcom County households, participate in our interactive Impossible Choices experience, and learn about the programs and services providing a pathway from survival to stability. Featuring localized data from the latest ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) Report. Registration includes: – Hot breakfast and coffee provided by Silver Reef – Participation in Impossible Choices: Financial Hardship Interactive Experience – Education, inspiration, and hope! A $25 donation is suggested but not required to attend this event. All donations received from event registrations will go to United Way of Whatcom County’s Community Impact Fund, helping ALICE families across our community access lifechanging services for years to come! Remember to bring your business cards for networking and to enter yourself into a drawing to win a door prize. Everyone is welcome to bring a door prize although it is not required. This can be merch from your business, a local coffee card, a small gift, etc.  Two members will be drawn and given an opportunity to share a 1-minute pitch about their business.
