About Us
The Mission of Mercer Island Emergency Management is to prepare Mercer Island to be self-sufficient for at least 7 days following a major disaster. This includes city government, city staff, citizens, businesses, schools, and the faith community. A disaster to our region has the potential to isolate Mercer Island from outside resources, overwhelm Mercer Island’s public safety and emergency medical services as well as temporarily disrupt city government. To mitigate this, Mercer Island Emergency Management has created Emergency Response Plans, an Emergency Volunteer Corps and offers training and exercises annually to test our plans, staff and volunteers.
