North Bend, WA (December 5th through May 31st, 2026)  Yukiguni—Snow Country—defines the regions of Japan where Siberian winds cross the Sea of Japan and release some of the heaviest snowfall on earth.  Over five winters in the mountains of central Honshu, these photographs explore the delicate graphicism that emerges from extreme conditions. The mountains near Hakuba and Myoko embody a striking juxtaposition: a delicate, graphic simplicity in the undulating foothills and the seeming fragility of resident flora like birch and bamboo, colliding with a savagery apparent in the rugged high alpine regions and the near-constant storms that batter these mountains with incredible amounts of snow and wind.  “This is winter as both architect and eraser, where violence becomes sculptor and storms leave behind only the essential. Working in black and white, these images distill the alpine environment to its essential elements—line, texture, negative space—revealing the quiet geometry that remains when excess is stripped away, leaving only a silencing blanket of snow.”   - Scott Rinckenberger

Group fun run - all levels trail. These runs are designed to satisfy all: the beginner who wants to discover what the buzz about trail running is, the competitive runner who wants to get a few more miles in for that week, and the seasoned ultra-runner who just loves hill repeats! Every week we meet along the I-90 corridor for a 4-mile, +/- 1,000' of vertical trail run which can be completed easily in approximately an hour. We then spend a few minutes refueling, enjoying hot tea or coffee and fellowship.

Every week a different location along the I-90 corridor, between exits 27 and Snoqualmie Pass.

Instructor:  Laurie Kathleen Clark of HEARTITUDE=ART+SOUL What You'll Learn:  If you love vintage charts of butterfly species, this class is for you. We will create a vintage-look chart from images of butterflies that appeal to you by arranging them in a pleasing composition then carefully sketching them in the first session. The second session will be focused on rendering the butterflies in gouache. The two - session class is designed to have time between sessions to allow for work on the chart between classes. The process of creating a chart such as this is a slow, contemplative, observational method of recording the spectacular world of nature and capturing the essence of the subject in a deep meaningful way. Skill Level/Age Range:  Beginner to Intermediate/ 18+ Student Instructions:  This class will include links to six easy-to-follow instructional videos demonstrating different techniques taught during the class. Using these videos, students can review the class in between sessions or after the class is over. Also, participants may want to purchase their own supplies to practice with in between sessions (see supplemental list below). Note:  This project will not be completed in two sessions, but you will have learned enough to take it from where we leave off to finish on your own. Materials Needed:  All materials will be supplied by the instructor during class. Supplemental Materials List (for those who want to practice between sessions): Two containers of water Brushes Paper towels A sheet of waxed paper or deli wrap (to cover the work while painting to protect areas that are not being worked on) Palettes and the colors of gouache that we will be using: permanent green (Luna moth), yellow ochre, white, lemon yellow, turquoise blue, primary blue + white, permanent yellow, primary yellow, black, spectrum red, brown, primary green, and ultramarine blue

Instructor: Barbara Henderson of Henderson Arts What You'll Learn: In this class, you will create a durable and weather-safe 12-inch stepping stone to enhance your garden or outdoor space. Using vibrant glass and other mosaic materials, you’ll learn essential techniques, including tesserae cutting, placement, and design composition, to craft a functional and beautiful work of art.  You can choose several shapes for your stepping stone, from octagon, square, round, and heart shaped. While you’ll complete the mosaic design during class, grouting will be done at home after the adhesive has fully dried. A live grout demonstration, along with provided supplies and access to a detailed instructional video, will give you the tools and knowledge to confidently finish your project.
