Merry Christmas in July!!! It's that time of year again! Each year in July, we partner with the North Whidbey Help House to collect food and raise money that goes directly back to those who need it most in our community. Donations tend to dip in the summer months, but it's this time of year that many families need it most.   All month long, we will be collecting non-perishable, pre-packaged foods. If you're out grocery shopping during the month of July, please consider grabbing an extra item or two and dropping them off at our office. Everything helps, but below is a list of some of the Help House's most requested food items: Canned Chicken or Tuna Peanut Butter Jelly Canned Fruit and Vegetables Applesauce Macaroni and Cheese Rice Pasta Spaghetti Sauce Thank you in advance for participating and helping us support an invaluable organization in our community!

Welcome to an innovative, multi-media art camp by teacher Knight Arndt, where our little artists ages 6-10 will work on various art projects to build a "mini portolio"! Our artist book camp guides students through hands-on exploratory projects that will culminate in their own individualized, hand bound artist books chronicling their artistic journey and work throughout the camp. Students will explore both classical book-making practices such as pop-ups, printmaking, & paper marbling, but also the expressive experimental projects contained within the pages. Perfect for young artists interested in visual storytelling, mixed media, and craftsmanship. This camp puts a heavy emphasis on medium exploration, personal expression, & creative problem solving through the materials!

Spring is the most magical time of the year at Meerkerk Gardens. It’s the perfect time to take a guided tour of this peaceful woodland garden on Whidbey Island. Starting April 5, guided tours are every Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. Our early bloomers are a delight even on a cold, wet day. Additional tours will be added to the schedule as our signature rhododendrons – some dating back over 60 years – provide endless waves of color. On your 40 minute tour, you will be greeted and guided by trained docents who will help you explore the hidden corners of Meerkerk Gardens, discover its unique history, and learn something new about the plants in our collection. Of course, you can also shop at our nursery, enjoy a picnic with a stunning Salish Sea view, and connect with nature. Whidbey’s Saratoga Orchestra Presents: Percussion on the Rock – A Celebration of Rhythm and Culture Whidbey Island, WA – July 2025 – Whidbey’s Saratoga Orchestra invites the community to feel the beat with Percussion on the Rock, a dynamic two-part musical celebration that blends global rhythms, community participation, and professional artistry. The event includes a free Community Drum Circle on Thursday, July 24, and the exciting Percussion World Music Festival concert on Saturday, July 26.   The culminating event of the workshop series, the Percussion World Music Festival, takes place at the Oak Harbor Methodist Church (1050 SE Ireland Street). This free concert features workshop participants performing alongside internationally acclaimed percussionists, including: Dr. Patrick Roulet – Western Washington University James Culley – Cincinnati Conservatory of Music (retired) Paul Hansen – Seattle-based percussionist (5th Avenue Theatre, Pacific Northwest Ballet) Erica Montgomery & Brandon Nelson – Saratoga Orchestra percussionists Audiences will enjoy an exciting cross-cultural musical journey featuring both Ghanaian and Western percussion traditions.
