Join us on the 3rd Saturday of each month this summer to eat snacks and talk about books. This is the perfect event for teens and young adults looking for a place to hang out and meet other readers over summer break. Meetings will take place on the second floor of the Main Library in Write253's studio and are totally free to attend. Our first meeting will be a chance for club members to get to know each other and pick out our first book. All of the books we select will be available to check out from the library.

For pride month, participants will search the library for a cast of characters from some of our favorite modern fairytales and fairytale retellings that feature queer couples. Have fun, earn a prize and discover a great selection of picture books to celebrate pride month with the whole family.

Check out the new and improved teen area at Main! This is a space reserved for teen patrons. In this area you'll find a Nintendo switch gaming station, computers, board games, craft supplies and more. Come to create, study, play or just hang out with friends. Every Wednesday night from 5:00-7:00 teens can also enjoy a free treat from our snack cart in the teen area! This week we will also be reserving our Olympic room for blacklight painting. During this program we'll turn off the overhead lights and bring out the blacklight so participants can see their paintings glow with special blacklight paint.

"Mak Beng" is a traditional handicraft made from banana leaves and flowers, used in Buddhist rituals and ceremonies. This symbolic offering represents purity, prosperity and happiness and are often seen at house festivals, weddings, and other special occasions. âMak Bengâ are often seen at house festivals, weddings and other special occasions. The use of âMak Bengâ reflects the deep connection between Laos people and their Buddhist faith, highlighting the importance of natural beauty and symbolism in their culture. This event will be held at the Main Branch Library (Cascade Room) on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Presented by Asia Pacific Cultural Center, (APCC), funded by Tacoma Creates, and hosted by Tacoma Public Library.
