Seattle Southside Chamber Government Affairs Council When: First Wednesday of Every Month Time: 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM Location: Virtual (with quarterly in-person meetings at the Chamber office) In-Person Location: 3100 S 176th St, Suite 210, SeaTac, WA 98188 Overview: The Government Affairs Council is the Chamber’s leading policy advisory group, providing a space for members to stay informed, influence policy, and take action on the issues that matter most to our regional business community. This committee plays a vital role in shaping the Chamber’s advocacy efforts at the local, regional, and state levels. Why You Should Join: Stay Informed: Receive timely updates on legislation, economic trends, and public policy. Get Involved: Participate in roundtable discussions and help identify priority issues. Make Your Voice Heard: Contribute to position statements, policy platforms, and testimony that represent the Southside business community. Shape the Future: Help guide the Chamber’s legislative agenda for upcoming sessions in Olympia and beyond. Meeting Format: The Council meets monthly on the first Wednesday of every month from 3:00 – 4:30 PM. Meetings are held virtually via Zoom, with quarterly in-person gatherings hosted at the Chamber’s SeaTac office to deepen collaboration and connection. Led By: Kevin Dunn, Government Affairs Chair Samantha Le, President & CEO of the Seattle Southside Chamber Eligibility: Available exclusively to Seattle Southside Chamber Members. Must be a Classic Member level or above to participate. Please register and fill out the information in order to hold your spot and ensure that you will be able to interview to be a part of this year's Workforce Discovery Lab. Note: When registering, please put N/A or None for company name and title Interviews will be 15 minute long one-on-one discussion with interviewers. For the interview, please prepare a short, 5 minute presentation covering the following details. This presentation can be simply verbal, or you can bring materials like presentation slides if you would like. Tell us about yourself! Why do you want to be a part of this program? What value will you bring to the program and your fellow students?   After your presentation, your interviewer will ask a few questions. Please confirm you are available from August 3rd - August 14th from 9am to 5:30pm. If you’re not able to, you will not be able to be accepted into the program. Please be sure to confirm this before your interview. Have you participated in any programs to help you with post high school success? This includes internships, summer programs, or some clubs or school sports. Please tell me about your experience with them. (This question will not factor into your acceptance) Please tell me about an Academic Challenge you've faced and how you overcame it. Please tell me about tangible support you’ve received from family or mentors. This can range from telling you about programs like ours to simply meaningful advice. Now please tell me about any barriers to access success you’ve experienced at home.
