This presentation will include case studies of several ODNR historical projects as well as an exploration of how nature itself is a cultural and historical asset. Philip Hutchison is an Ohio native with deep ties to his Appalachian roots in southeast Ohio. As a Historical Resources Program Administrator at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, he is passionate about interpreting history for broad public audiences. During his tenure at ODNR, Philip has contributed to a wide range of projects, from writing interpretive copy for historical exhibits on ODNR properties to leading teams focused on major historical initiatives. He is a graduate of Ohio University, where he earned a B.A. in History and a Master of Public Administration. Arrive anytime between 10 and 11:15 a.m. so you have plenty of time to enjoy the project. Doors stay open until noon. Each Saturday features new arts and crafts materials. Adra’s lecture will recount her journey to the Isle of Guernsey to find Harman Blennerhassett’s final resting place. This session will be followed by a dedication ceremony for Blennerhassett oil paintings that were formerly displayed in the historic Chancellor Hotel. The Blennerhassett Historical Foundation, Inc. invites the public to attend its annual 2026 Winter Lecture Series. This event will be held every Sunday in February at the Blennerhassett Museum of Regional History, located at 137 Juliana Street in Parkersburg. Event Details The series features four lectures delivered by regional experts. Each session starts at 2:00 PM and lasts approximately one hour, followed by a question-and-answer period. On Sundays, museum doors open at 11:00 AM and close at 5:00 PM, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the exhibits before or after each lecture. Admission and Amenities Admission for each lecture is $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for children ages 3 to 12. Tickets are available at the door; there are no advanced sales. Event by Parkersburg Art Center   725 Market St, Parkersburg, WV, United States, West Virginia 26101   Duration: 3 hr 30 min   Public  · Anyone on or off Facebook Senior Arts Day 2026 takes place on Wednesday, February 11, at the Parkersburg Art Center and offers a free afternoon of creativity, learning, and connection for older adults. Participants are invited to explore hands-on art workshops, watch live demonstrations, and enjoy refreshments in a welcoming, relaxed environment. Workshops begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by a Meet & Mingle break with light refreshments at 2:00 p.m., and a second workshop session at 2:30 p.m. Attendees may choose one workshop per session, with options including printmaking, weaving, soft pastels, and an introductory pottery project, all led by experienced instructors. Wood carving demonstrations by the Geppetto Woodcarvers will be ongoing throughout the afternoon. All materials are provided, but space is limited. This is a free event, and advance registration is required to ensure adequate supplies. Registration is available by phone at 304-485-3859 or by email.

Arty Parties: Saturdays, January 3rd – March 7th, 10am – 12 pm Arty Parties are FREE community events for children (accompanied by a parent or guardian) on Saturday mornings from January 3 through March 7, culminating with ArtORama on March 14. Arrive anytime between 10 and 11:15 a.m. so you have plenty of time to enjoy the project. Doors stay open until noon. Each Saturday features new arts and crafts materials. Projects are designed for ages 4–10 and are open-ended, giving kids the freedom to make choices, explore, and express themselves. Families must register online or by emailing [email protected]. Group sizes are limited so we can provide ample supplies and space for creation.
