PLEASE POST THIS FOR ARTISTS AND PHOTOGRAPHERS Call for Entries for 2026 Appalachian Nature Art & Photography Compe<<on and Exhibi<on Appalachian Nature Art & Photography CompeCCon & ExhibiCon, a juried regional compe11on celebra1ng nature across Appalachia. Eligibility: Ar1sts and photographers age 18 and older who reside in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, DC are eligible to enter. There are over $2000 in prizes. Eligible submissions include two-dimensional artwork and photography depic1ng nature in Appalachia—landscapes, plants, wildlife, and other natural subjects. While eligibility is limited to residents of the four-state region, entries may portray nature from any Appalachian state. Jurors: The compe11on will be juried by Terry Miller (art) and Steven David Johnson (photography). Miller is an accomplished graphite ar1st whose work, Icebound—a fox in the snow—won Best of Show at the Arcadian Gallery’s American Wildlife Art Compe11on & Exhibi1on in 2025. He is a Dis1nguished Member of the Society of Animal Ar1sts and a Master Ar1st of the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wisconsin. Johnson is known for vivid Appalachian imagery ranging from in1mate macro scenes to wildlife behavior, and he is a long1me advocate for conserva1on. His photography has appeared in Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Na1onal Wildlife Magazine, Nature Conservancy Magazine, and many other places. He is a Professor of Visual Communica1ons at Eastern Mennonite University in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. Organized by: The Arcadian Gallery, Cumberland, MD. GURNEY Greg and Kate have moved to Manhattan after twenty- two years of child raising in the . suburbs. Greg’s career as a financial trader is winding down, while Kate’s career as a public school English teacher, is beginning to offer her more opportunities. Greg brings home a dog he found in the park – or that has found him – bearing only the name “ Sylvia” on her name tag. A street-smart mixture of Lab and Poodle, Sylvia becomes a major bone of contention between husband and wife. She offers Greg an escape from the frustrations of this job and the unknowns of middle age. To Kate, Sylvia becomes a rival for affection. And Sylvia thinks Kate just doesn’t understand the relationship between man and dog. The marriage is put in serious jeopardy until, after a series of hilarious and touching complications, Greg and Kate learn to compromise, and Sylvia becomes a valued part of their lives. “ Gurney’s mad comedy is the most endearing good time to trot down the pike in many a moon. Howlingly funny … “ — BackStage   ACTORS NEEDED: Two (2) women to play the roles of Sylvia and Kate, One (1)man to play the role of Greg and the roles of Tom, Phyllis and Leslie to be preferably played by one (1) other actor.   CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS SYLVIA A somewhat scruffy stray dog who finds shelter with Greg who admires her and finally sneaks into Kate’s heart even though she has not behaved in an exemplary manner before. (Age Range- 20’s to 30’s). GREG A middle aged empty nester who is unhappy with his current situation and experiences a midlife crisis. He finds the dog Sylvia in the park who makes him feel important and loved again. He likes Sylvia so much that he becomes a little to obsessed with her. ( Age range- 40’s to 50’s ) KATE GREG’s wife and very successful and ambitious teacher. Being afraid that the dog might disrupt her new found freedom after the kids grew up and she and her husband moved back to the city, she objects strongly against keeping Sylvia. Later on , she even feels replaced by the dog in her marriage. ( Age range – 40’s to 50’s ). PHYLLIS A good friend of Kate’s who thinks that Sylvia is very intrusive and even leaves the house to escape from the dog. ( Age Range – 30’s to 60’s ) TOM Owner of the Golden Retriever named Bowser. He gives Greg advise on how to handle a dog and tells him about the meaning of dog names. ( Age Range – 30’s to 60’s ). Auditions for Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park  Auditions for Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park will take place on March 22 and 23, 2026 with a potential for a third night on March 24, all at 6:30 pm. Location TBD. Show dates are June 19, 20, 26, 27, and 28 Paul and Corie Bratter are newlyweds in every sense of the word. He’s a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer and she’s a free spirit always looking for the latest kick. Their new apartment is her most recent find – too expensive with bad plumbing and in need of a paint job. After a six-day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie’s loopy mother and decide to play matchmaker during a dinner with their neighbor-in-the-attic, Velasco, where everything that can go wrong does. Paul just doesn’t understand Corie, as she sees it. He’s too staid, too boring, and she just wants him to be a little more spontaneous. Running “barefoot in the park” would be a start… Characters (ages listed are the age of the character, not necessarily the age the actor must be): CORIE BRATTER:  Age Range 20-30. A carefree young newlywed, busily  trying to set up and decorate the new home she shares with her husband,  Paul. She may be flighty, or over-enthusiastic, but not a fool. PAUL BRATTER: Age range 25-35. Corie’s husband, a young lawyer  with a dry wit. Unlike Corie, he likes to stay in his comfort zone.  Conventional. Wants to be a good husband by being a good provider. Very  much in love with Corie. Sometimes matter of fact,  but never cold. ETHEL BANKS:  Age Range 40-65. Corie’s cautious mother who is  willing to endure anything for her daughter. Now that Corie is out of  the nest, Ethel lives alone and struggles to find her role. She is very  sharp, with a good, dry wit of her own. Mr. VICTOR VELASCO:  Age Range 40-60. The Bratters’ eccentric, bohemian  neighbor who lives in the attic of the brownstone, just above their  apartment. Fancies himself a lady’s man, and can be very charming.  TELEPHONE INSTALLER:  Age  Range 30-60. A good-humored man who makes observations on everyday life  and relationships as he installs and fixes telephones. DELIVERY PERSON: Age range 55 and up. An older person who brings  wedding gifts sent to the Bratters-and is exhausted by all the flights  of stairs leading up to the apartment. General Cooking Class Information If there is not an option to add a class seat to your cart, that means the class is full. Each cooking class is a unique hands-on experience where you can learn everything from basic knife skills and sanitation to beautifully garnishing the finished product. Purchasing one spot in our cooking class entitles you to a station to share with another registered participant, use of our kitchen equipment, all the necessary ingredients to create the described dishes & in-depth chef instruction.   Art is Life/Life is Art $35.00 Back for 2026!  Individuals 55 and up can again stretch their artistic muscles in this non-threatening, non-judgmental environment.  This series is geared for everyone, from those new to art to the art pros. If you took the class before, feel free to register again because this year brings new creative adventures. Projects will include printmaking, pottery, painting, drawing,  upcycling and more. Participants will receive some materials to take home so they can keep on creating after the class is over!  Classes will meet in two, six-week sessions. Select the session that best fits your schedule. Each session will have twelve, two-hour class meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Tuesdays new projects and techniques are introduced while Thursdays will be work days. The full schedule will be outlined in the first class meeting.  The culminating event will combine artwork created in both sessions in a gallery show at the PAC opening on June 5th! Program costs are subsidized by grant funding from the WV Department of Arts, Culture and History. Session 1:  February 17- March 26, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (Tuesdays and Thursdays) Session 2: April 7 - May 14, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (Tuesdays and Thursdays) Cost: $35 (no member discounts)

  Intro to Stained Glass Art $160.00 This 5-week class will introduce the tools and techniques of stained glass construction. Students will learn the Tiffany method, (the copper foil method), to create one or more projects that showcase the beauty of stained glass. Designs can be supplied, or students may wish to consult with the instructor about creating their own. Students who have no experience with stained glass are welcome, as well as students who have experience but wish to build upon that foundation. All supplies and materials for this class are included with registration. This class is open to those age 14 and older.   Art is Life/Life is Art $35.00 Back for 2026!  Individuals 55 and up can again stretch their artistic muscles in this non-threatening, non-judgmental environment.  This series is geared for everyone, from those new to art to the art pros. If you took the class before, feel free to register again because this year brings new creative adventures. Projects will include printmaking, pottery, painting, drawing,  upcycling and more. Participants will receive some materials to take home so they can keep on creating after the class is over!  Classes will meet in two, six-week sessions. Select the session that best fits your schedule. Each session will have twelve, two-hour class meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Tuesdays new projects and techniques are introduced while Thursdays will be work days. The full schedule will be outlined in the first class meeting.  The culminating event will combine artwork created in both sessions in a gallery show at the PAC opening on June 5th! Program costs are subsidized by grant funding from the WV Department of Arts, Culture and History. Each cooking class is a unique hands-on experience where you can learn everything from basic knife skills and sanitation to beautifully garnishing the finished product. Purchasing one spot in our cooking class entitles you to a station to share with another registered participant, use of our kitchen equipment, all the necessary ingredients to create the described dishes & in-depth chef instruction. Each cooking class takes place in our teaching kitchen at The Changed Plate.       Cooking Class Rules & Cancellation Policy ***Please note that registering for our cooking classes & completing your transaction is equivalent to signing the attached Assumption of Risk and Release of Liability Cooking Class Waiver** All class sign-ups are by pre-registration and pre-pay only.  Registration for standard classes closes 48 hours prior to each class.  Specialty classes, such as “Date Night” may close 72 hours prior to class, in order to allow restaurant staff sufficient time to prepare.  Cancellations will be accepted and refunds will be granted if request is received 2 weeks or more prior to date of class.  Cancellation requests received from 13 days to 72 hours prior to class will be granted transfer of payment to a future class (they will receive credit).  If cancellation notice is given less than 72 hours prior to start of class, no refund or payment credit will be given.  This includes no-shows day of class.  If class is cancelled by Cooking Class instructional team, i.e. in the event of adverse weather, or if less than 4 participants have registered for a class, the class will be rescheduled and/or participants will receive full payment credit for future class.

This unforgettable event celebrates a film deeply rooted in Marietta’s history—while also marking an exciting milestone: the 10-year reopening anniversary of Peoples Bank Theatre. A Premiere That Made History When Battle Hymn premiered on February 12, 1957, Marietta, Ohio became the center of national attention. The film debuted at the historic Colony Cinema and other local theatres, drawing an estimated 25,000 people downtown—a crowd size that remains one of the largest events ever to take place in Marietta. Movie star Rock Hudson, who portrayed the film’s lead character, Colonel Dean E. Hess, a U.S. Air Force pilot and Ohio native, arrived in town for the premiere festivities, which included a massive parade and a formal premiere ceremony held at Marietta College. The day cemented Marietta’s place in Hollywood history and left a lasting mark on the community that is still remembered nearly seven decades later.   About the Film: Battle Hymn Released in 1957, Battle Hymn is a powerful war drama inspired by the true story of Colonel Dean E. Hess, a U.S. Air Force pilot and Ohio native. Set during the Korean War, the film follows Hess as he leads a fighter squadron while forming a deep humanitarian mission—rescuing orphaned children and establishing an orphanage amid the devastation of war. Starring Rock Hudson, Battle Hymn blends action, compassion, and moral courage, highlighting themes of service, sacrifice, and hope. Its connection to Ohio and its emotional storytelling make it a fitting selection for the Ohio Goes to the Movies initiative, which celebrates films with meaningful ties to the state. Eligibility: Ar1sts and photographers age 18 and older who reside in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, DC are eligible to enter. There are over $2000 in prizes. Eligible submissions include two-dimensional artwork and photography depic1ng nature in Appalachia—landscapes, plants, wildlife, and other natural subjects. While eligibility is limited to residents of the four-state region, entries may portray nature from any Appalachian state. Jurors: The compe11on will be juried by Terry Miller (art) and Steven David Johnson (photography). Miller is an accomplished graphite ar1st whose work, Icebound—a fox in the snow—won Best of Show at the Arcadian Gallery’s American Wildlife Art Compe11on & Exhibi1on in 2025. He is a Dis1nguished Member of the Society of Animal Ar1sts and a Master Ar1st of the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wisconsin. Johnson is known for vivid Appalachian imagery ranging from in1mate macro scenes to wildlife behavior, and he is a long1me advocate for conserva1on. His photography has appeared in Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Na1onal Wildlife Magazine, Nature Conservancy Magazine, and many other places. He is a Professor of Visual Communica1ons at Eastern Mennonite University in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. Organized by: The Arcadian Gallery, Cumberland, MD.   Intro to Stained Glass Art $160.00 This 5-week class will introduce the tools and techniques of stained glass construction. Students will learn the Tiffany method, (the copper foil method), to create one or more projects that showcase the beauty of stained glass. Designs can be supplied, or students may wish to consult with the instructor about creating their own. Students who have no experience with stained glass are welcome, as well as students who have experience but wish to build upon that foundation. All supplies and materials for this class are included with registration. This class is open to those age 14 and older. Session 1: Wednesdays, March 25-April 22, 6-8 p.m. Session 2: Wednesdays, April 29-May 27, 6-8 p.m. Cost: $160 (price includes all supplies) (PAC members receive 20% discount).
