America: a Wisconsin Perspective Exhibition: May 3 – August 2, 2026 Opening Reception with Awards: Saturday, May 16 from 2-4pm 1776 to 2026: It’s the semiquincentennial of the formation of the United States after its Declaration of Independence. Wisconsin artists are challenged to interpret our country’s history and culture through the Wisconsin lens. Our state and its art have a unique place in America’s 250-year history, even though Wisconsin was not declared a state till 1848. After centuries of Indigenous art, explorers and immigrants all played a role in the state’s artistic evolution. How will you interpret our state’s unique social, cultural, historical, or political environment in any of its historical periods or present day?

Deeply Rooted: Small Family Farms Photography by Leslie Witte April 30 – August 2, 2026 Opening Reception: Thursday, April 30th from 5 – 7 pm Leslie Witte brings her photography to the Cedarburg Art Museum in the exhibition Deeply Rooted: Small Family Farms. Through her work, Witte examines everyday life on a farm, inspired by her own upbringing at Cedarburg’s own Witte’s Vegetable Farm.  Witte’s photography provides an intimate perspective into agricultural operations that has been long overlooked by the general population. Through this exhibition, Witte offers viewers an opportunity to catch a glimpse of the effort that goes into the production of the produce we all enjoy. This exhibition runs from April 30 through August 2, 2026. An opening reception will be held on April 30 from 5pm to 7pm.

This is Cedarburg: Cedarburg Landscapes and Plein Air Paintings from the CAM Collections April 30 – August 2, 2026 The Cedarburg Art Museum is pleased to present This is Cedarburg: Cedarburg Landscapes and Plein Air Paintings from the CAM Collection. This exhibition brings together examples of historic 20th century paintings of local landscapes alongside the winners of the Paint Cedarburg’s Plein Air Competition. When the Museum began in 2013, the generous gift of 49 works that started the permanent collection included the winning paintings from this annual event. Thanks to ongoing support from Mal and Jill Hepburn, the Cedarburg Art Museum continues to acquire the Best-In-Show painting from the competition. This is Cedarburg coincides with the 2026 Plein Air competition and looks forward to adding yet another winning work to the permanent collection.

Warmth, Comfort, Style, Fashion & Fine Art: Quilts from the Pilgrim / Roy Collection celebrates the extraordinary quilt collection of Gerald Roy and Paul Pilgrim, recognized as one of the most influential private collections of American quilts in the United States. At its peak, the Pilgrim/Roy Collection comprised more than 1,500 quilts and has played a foundational role in shaping the understanding, study, and appreciation of quilts as works of art. Pilgrim and Roy entered the field as gallery owners, antique dealers, and trained artists, approaching quilts as powerful expressions of color, design, and artistic intention—made primarily by women. With little formal knowledge of quilt history or technique at the outset, they applied the same critical eye they brought to fine art, allowing color to guide their collecting. Their approach was deeply influenced by Josef Albers’ theories of color interaction. Roy notably recalled his first encounter with an Amish quilt: “What is a Josef Albers’ painting doing hanging on a clothesline?” Their collecting philosophy prioritized innovation and what they termed “the mark of the maker,” referring to evidence of creative decision-making, experimentation, and individuality. This approach enabled them to assemble a collection that presents 19th-century quilt makers as bold and sophisticated artists, whose work often anticipated the visual language of 20th-century Abstract Expressionism and Color Field painting. Pilgrim and Roy began collecting prior to the quilt revival of the 1970s and 1980s and played a key role in establishing the National Quilt Museum in Paducah. The lasting significance of their collection was acknowledged in the landmark exhibition Quilts and Color: Quilts from the Pilgrim/Roy Collection at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in 2014. Presented at the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts & Fiber Arts, Warmth, Comfort, Style, Fashion, & Fine Art invites viewers to experience quilts as objects of warmth and comfort—and as enduring works of style, fashion, and fine art. The exhibition features over thirty quilts from the Pilgrim/Roy Collection, which at the conclusion of the exhibition will become a permanent part of the Museum’s collection. Accompanying the exhibition is a fully illustrated exhibition catalogue with essays by Gerald Roy and Senior Curator Emily Schlemowitz.

Saturday, May 9 Two seatings: 10 AM–12 PM and 2 PM–4 PM $65 per guest Join us for a charming afternoon of tea, sweets, and tradition at the Cedarburg Art Museum. Royal Tea is one of our most anticipated annual events, featuring beautifully mismatched china, tiered serving trays, and a relaxed, elegant atmosphere inside our historic 1898 mansion. A Beloved Tradition Royal Tea is lovingly prepared with the help of our dedicated volunteers, whose attention to detail and creative table settings make this event uniquely Cedarburg.   Guests will enjoy a thoughtfully curated afternoon tea menu including: Assorted tea sandwiches and savory bites Freshly baked mini scones (served with clotted cream and preserves) An assortment of petite desserts A selection of fine teas Gluten-free options are available. Wisconsin artists are challenged to interpret our country’s history and culture through the Wisconsin lens. Our state and its art have a unique place in America’s 250-year history, even though Wisconsin was not declared a state till 1848. After centuries of Indigenous art, explorers and immigrants all played a role in the state’s artistic evolution. Through her work, Witte examines everyday life on a farm, inspired by her own upbringing at Cedarburg’s own Witte’s Vegetable Farm.  Witte’s photography provides an intimate perspective into agricultural operations that has been long overlooked by the general population. Through this exhibition, Witte offers viewers an opportunity to catch a glimpse of the effort that goes into the production of the produce we all enjoy. This exhibition runs from April 30 through August 2, 2026. An opening reception will be held on April 30 from 5pm to 7pm.

This is Cedarburg: Cedarburg Landscapes and Plein Air Paintings from the CAM Collections April 30 – August 2, 2026 The Cedarburg Art Museum is pleased to present This is Cedarburg: Cedarburg Landscapes and Plein Air Paintings from the CAM Collection. This exhibition brings together examples of historic 20th century paintings of local landscapes alongside the winners of the Paint Cedarburg’s Plein Air Competition. When the Museum began in 2013, the generous gift of 49 works that started the permanent collection included the winning paintings from this annual event. Thanks to ongoing support from Mal and Jill Hepburn, the Cedarburg Art Museum continues to acquire the Best-In-Show painting from the competition. This is Cedarburg coincides with the 2026 Plein Air competition and looks forward to adding yet another winning work to the permanent collection.

Warmth, Comfort, Style, Fashion & Fine Art: Quilts from the Pilgrim / Roy Collection celebrates the extraordinary quilt collection of Gerald Roy and Paul Pilgrim, recognized as one of the most influential private collections of American quilts in the United States. At its peak, the Pilgrim/Roy Collection comprised more than 1,500 quilts and has played a foundational role in shaping the understanding, study, and appreciation of quilts as works of art. Pilgrim and Roy entered the field as gallery owners, antique dealers, and trained artists, approaching quilts as powerful expressions of color, design, and artistic intention—made primarily by women. With little formal knowledge of quilt history or technique at the outset, they applied the same critical eye they brought to fine art, allowing color to guide their collecting. Their approach was deeply influenced by Josef Albers’ theories of color interaction. Roy notably recalled his first encounter with an Amish quilt: “What is a Josef Albers’ painting doing hanging on a clothesline?” Their collecting philosophy prioritized innovation and what they termed “the mark of the maker,” referring to evidence of creative decision-making, experimentation, and individuality. This approach enabled them to assemble a collection that presents 19th-century quilt makers as bold and sophisticated artists, whose work often anticipated the visual language of 20th-century Abstract Expressionism and Color Field painting. Pilgrim and Roy began collecting prior to the quilt revival of the 1970s and 1980s and played a key role in establishing the National Quilt Museum in Paducah. The lasting significance of their collection was acknowledged in the landmark exhibition Quilts and Color: Quilts from the Pilgrim/Roy Collection at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in 2014. Presented at the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts & Fiber Arts, Warmth, Comfort, Style, Fashion, & Fine Art invites viewers to experience quilts as objects of warmth and comfort—and as enduring works of style, fashion, and fine art. The exhibition features over thirty quilts from the Pilgrim/Roy Collection, which at the conclusion of the exhibition will become a permanent part of the Museum’s collection. Accompanying the exhibition is a fully illustrated exhibition catalogue with essays by Gerald Roy and Senior Curator Emily Schlemowitz.

Warmth, Comfort, Style, Fashion & Fine Art: Quilts from the Pilgrim / Roy Collection celebrates the extraordinary quilt collection of Gerald Roy and Paul Pilgrim, recognized as one of the most influential private collections of American quilts in the United States. At its peak, the Pilgrim/Roy Collection comprised more than 1,500 quilts and has played a foundational role in shaping the understanding, study, and appreciation of quilts as works of art. Pilgrim and Roy entered the field as gallery owners, antique dealers, and trained artists, approaching quilts as powerful expressions of color, design, and artistic intention—made primarily by women. With little formal knowledge of quilt history or technique at the outset, they applied the same critical eye they brought to fine art, allowing color to guide their collecting. Their approach was deeply influenced by Josef Albers’ theories of color interaction. Roy notably recalled his first encounter with an Amish quilt: “What is a Josef Albers’ painting doing hanging on a clothesline?” Their collecting philosophy prioritized innovation and what they termed “the mark of the maker,” referring to evidence of creative decision-making, experimentation, and individuality. This approach enabled them to assemble a collection that presents 19th-century quilt makers as bold and sophisticated artists, whose work often anticipated the visual language of 20th-century Abstract Expressionism and Color Field painting. Pilgrim and Roy began collecting prior to the quilt revival of the 1970s and 1980s and played a key role in establishing the National Quilt Museum in Paducah. The lasting significance of their collection was acknowledged in the landmark exhibition Quilts and Color: Quilts from the Pilgrim/Roy Collection at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in 2014. Presented at the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts & Fiber Arts, Warmth, Comfort, Style, Fashion, & Fine Art invites viewers to experience quilts as objects of warmth and comfort—and as enduring works of style, fashion, and fine art. The exhibition features over thirty quilts from the Pilgrim/Roy Collection, which at the conclusion of the exhibition will become a permanent part of the Museum’s collection. Accompanying the exhibition is a fully illustrated exhibition catalogue with essays by Gerald Roy and Senior Curator Emily Schlemowitz.

America: a Wisconsin Perspective Exhibition: May 3 – August 2, 2026 Opening Reception with Awards: Saturday, May 16 from 2-4pm 1776 to 2026: It’s the semiquincentennial of the formation of the United States after its Declaration of Independence. Wisconsin artists are challenged to interpret our country’s history and culture through the Wisconsin lens. Our state and its art have a unique place in America’s 250-year history, even though Wisconsin was not declared a state till 1848. After centuries of Indigenous art, explorers and immigrants all played a role in the state’s artistic evolution. How will you interpret our state’s unique social, cultural, historical, or political environment in any of its historical periods or present day?

Deeply Rooted: Small Family Farms Photography by Leslie Witte April 30 – August 2, 2026 Opening Reception: Thursday, April 30th from 5 – 7 pm Leslie Witte brings her photography to the Cedarburg Art Museum in the exhibition Deeply Rooted: Small Family Farms. Through her work, Witte examines everyday life on a farm, inspired by her own upbringing at Cedarburg’s own Witte’s Vegetable Farm.  Witte’s photography provides an intimate perspective into agricultural operations that has been long overlooked by the general population. Through this exhibition, Witte offers viewers an opportunity to catch a glimpse of the effort that goes into the production of the produce we all enjoy. This exhibition runs from April 30 through August 2, 2026. An opening reception will be held on April 30 from 5pm to 7pm.

Cedarburg and Grafton students partner with Rotary Club to combat global water crisis  Walk4Water scheduled for May 16   CEDARBURG, WI --- Students from Cedarburg and Grafton high schools in the Global Scholars program are hosting a 4-mile walk on Saturday, May 16, to raise awareness for the global water crisis. Students are hoping to collect at least $7,500 in donations to fund a new well in a developing country with the support of the Rotary Club of Cedarburg-Grafton, which is working with students to help them reach their goals.   Walk4Water is a fundraising program hosted by Healing Hands International to support its water ministry. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 2 billion people worldwide do not have access to clean drinking water. Additionally, 842,000 die annually from water-related illnesses.    The walk will begin at 9 a.m. at Cedarburg High School and include 2 loops of 2 miles each, which is the distance that people in developing countries walk on average daily to gather water for their families and communities. There will be several water stations along the route, sponsored by local businesses and organizations.

After the walk, participants will be able to enjoy complimentary lunch (donations appreciated), beverages, and music.

This is Cedarburg: Cedarburg Landscapes and Plein Air Paintings from the CAM Collections April 30 – August 2, 2026 The Cedarburg Art Museum is pleased to present This is Cedarburg: Cedarburg Landscapes and Plein Air Paintings from the CAM Collection. This exhibition brings together examples of historic 20th century paintings of local landscapes alongside the winners of the Paint Cedarburg’s Plein Air Competition. When the Museum began in 2013, the generous gift of 49 works that started the permanent collection included the winning paintings from this annual event. Thanks to ongoing support from Mal and Jill Hepburn, the Cedarburg Art Museum continues to acquire the Best-In-Show painting from the competition. This is Cedarburg coincides with the 2026 Plein Air competition and looks forward to adding yet another winning work to the permanent collection.

Warmth, Comfort, Style, Fashion & Fine Art: Quilts from the Pilgrim / Roy Collection celebrates the extraordinary quilt collection of Gerald Roy and Paul Pilgrim, recognized as one of the most influential private collections of American quilts in the United States. At its peak, the Pilgrim/Roy Collection comprised more than 1,500 quilts and has played a foundational role in shaping the understanding, study, and appreciation of quilts as works of art. Pilgrim and Roy entered the field as gallery owners, antique dealers, and trained artists, approaching quilts as powerful expressions of color, design, and artistic intention—made primarily by women. With little formal knowledge of quilt history or technique at the outset, they applied the same critical eye they brought to fine art, allowing color to guide their collecting. Their approach was deeply influenced by Josef Albers’ theories of color interaction. Roy notably recalled his first encounter with an Amish quilt: “What is a Josef Albers’ painting doing hanging on a clothesline?” Their collecting philosophy prioritized innovation and what they termed “the mark of the maker,” referring to evidence of creative decision-making, experimentation, and individuality. This approach enabled them to assemble a collection that presents 19th-century quilt makers as bold and sophisticated artists, whose work often anticipated the visual language of 20th-century Abstract Expressionism and Color Field painting. Pilgrim and Roy began collecting prior to the quilt revival of the 1970s and 1980s and played a key role in establishing the National Quilt Museum in Paducah. The lasting significance of their collection was acknowledged in the landmark exhibition Quilts and Color: Quilts from the Pilgrim/Roy Collection at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in 2014. Presented at the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts & Fiber Arts, Warmth, Comfort, Style, Fashion, & Fine Art invites viewers to experience quilts as objects of warmth and comfort—and as enduring works of style, fashion, and fine art. The exhibition features over thirty quilts from the Pilgrim/Roy Collection, which at the conclusion of the exhibition will become a permanent part of the Museum’s collection. Accompanying the exhibition is a fully illustrated exhibition catalogue with essays by Gerald Roy and Senior Curator Emily Schlemowitz.
