Models, Muses, & Figures: Portraits from the Cedarburg Art Museum Permanent Collection May 10th – August 3rd, 2025 Opening Reception: May 17th The Cedarburg Art Museum Permanent Collection is filled with human subject matter; portraits, group portraits, and self-portraits. This exhibition features a selection of these portraits that show the diverse and extensive methods of portraiture from amazing Wisconsin artists. In a time where the creation and sharing of portraits is simple and expected through social media and other digital platforms, this exhibition features the careful process in which portrait painting exists outside of these technologies. The old, rich practice of portrait painting began as a method of remembrance, later developing into a show of wealth and power. However, when the technique of realistic portraits was perfected artists began to look inwards on themselves and their subjects, leading to a boom in expressive portraiture that has continued throughout art history.

  Summer Sculpture Exhibition: Kendall Polster May 24th – October 6th, 2025   After graduating from the University of Georgis in 1990 with majors in zoology and microbiology, Polster worked as a research biologist for 3 years at the Blood Center of Southeastern Wisconsin. Polster then started welding furniture and sculpture for a hobby. His brother Craig, who is a certified welder, taught him how to weld. Polster started medical school and eventually took a leave of absence in 1994 to pursue his are full time and start WELD GUY! .

Tour of America’s Dairyland (ToAD) and Mel’s Charities have brought the cycling series back to Cedarburg for a one-day race through the south end of the downtown business district! ToAD is the largest competitive road cycling series in the U.S. It hosts 11 straight days......More

Tour of America’s Dairyland (ToAD) and Mel’s Charities have brought the cycling series back to Cedarburg for a one-day race through the south end of the downtown business district! ToAD is the largest competitive road cycling series in the U.S. It hosts 11 straight days of racing throughout Southeast Wisconsin. The tour was started in 2009 and extends the legacy of multi-day bike racing that first started in Wisconsin in 1969. Criterium cycling race on a 1.1-mile course encompassing residential and businesses areas. Professional and amateur cyclists from ages 9 to over 60 from all over the world will compete throughout the day in several exciting races through Cedarburg.

The course will begin on Washington Ave., at roughly the Cultural Center, head north to Center, turn left, and head west on Center to Evergreen, turn left and continue on Evergreen until Western, take a left and head east on Western until Washington,

“With approximately 20,000 insect species in Wisconsin, we tend to focus on the pests that catch our attention,” reports PJ Liesch, Ozaukee Master Gardeners June speaker. Join us Thursday, June 26 at 7:00 pm for “Beneficial Backyard Bugs” via Zoom. “The vast majority of insects in our yards and gardens are species that serve as beneficial predators, parasites, pollinators, or recyclers,” Liesch added. In this virtual presentation, Liesch will take a closer look at these many beneficial creatures. Patrick (“PJ”) Liesch is a statewide entomology specialist within the UW-Madison Department of Entomology. PJ’s primary role is to serve as the director of the University of Wisconsin Insect Diagnostic Lab where he handles approximately 2,500 insect identification requests every year. PJ also teaches on the UW-Madison campus and provides entomology-related outreach throughout the state, including regular appearances on Wisconsin Public Radio’s The Larry Meiller Show. The Cedarburg History Museum will be hosting a history lecture to coincide with their current 50's/60's exhibit, given by John Schoenknecht on June 27 at 6pm.   "There are many people in Cedarburg who remember the Thunderbolts — whether they marched, or they remember hearing the group practice during summer nights or they saw the group in parades and competitions," Schoenknecht said. "All who participated remember the experiences and adventures they had — traveling in a bus, staying overnight and sleeping on gym floors, practicing, and hearing appreciative applause." It also has a special place in Schoenknecht’s heart personally since he was a member from 1966 to 1973. "The Thunderbolts 1953-1993" by John Schoenknecht is available for purchase at the Cedarburg History Museum.

Models, Muses, & Figures: Portraits from the Cedarburg Art Museum Permanent Collection May 10th – August 3rd, 2025 Opening Reception: May 17th The Cedarburg Art Museum Permanent Collection is filled with human subject matter; portraits, group portraits, and self-portraits. This exhibition features a selection of these portraits that show the diverse and extensive methods of portraiture from amazing Wisconsin artists. In a time where the creation and sharing of portraits is simple and expected through social media and other digital platforms, this exhibition features the careful process in which portrait painting exists outside of these technologies. The old, rich practice of portrait painting began as a method of remembrance, later developing into a show of wealth and power. However, when the technique of realistic portraits was perfected artists began to look inwards on themselves and their subjects, leading to a boom in expressive portraiture that has continued throughout art history.

  Summer Sculpture Exhibition: Kendall Polster May 24th – October 6th, 2025   After graduating from the University of Georgis in 1990 with majors in zoology and microbiology, Polster worked as a research biologist for 3 years at the Blood Center of Southeastern Wisconsin. Polster then started welding furniture and sculpture for a hobby. His brother Craig, who is a certified welder, taught him how to weld. Polster started medical school and eventually took a leave of absence in 1994 to pursue his are full time and start WELD GUY! .

Wit/Whim explores the themes of play, family, and a sense of belonging, inviting visitors to examine the intricate ways these concepts intersect and influence out lives. The features artists create immersive worlds with their work, experiment with different materials, and provide insightful reflections on their personal stories.  This exhibit encourages visitors to contemplate essential questions about joy and community: How do we forge the bonds that connect us? What role does play have in the creative process? Through a blend of documentary and personal narratives, the artists in "Wit/Whim" sensitively explore their biographies, relationships with the world, and the essence of human connection and community.  Wit/Whim expansively considers contemporary fiber art and includes the artists Russell Barratt, Susie Brandt, Ella Clemons, Will Grimm, Jeila Gueramnian, Luke Haynes and Nicole Leth, Lexy Ho-Tai, Julian Jamaal Jones, Yr Johannsdottir, Ali Kijima, Emilie Trahan, and Anna Torma. "Wit/Whim" runs from June 13, 2025 through August 10, 2025.
