Families are welcome to interact and play, listen to stories, and read to the furry friends visiting us from the shelter. Live animals will be present and confined to the Storyroom. This program is sponsored by the Lakeland Animal Shelter.

Pokemon Hangout

School age kids are invited to hang out in the Storyroom for an hour of Pokemon fun. Crafts, games, and cards will be available to play with. Kids are welcome to bring their own cards to play or share, but staff cannot supervise trading.

Project Explore offers kids an opportunity to work on projects using the library’s materials with limited staff assistance. You will have access to art supplies, cardboard, tools, and more and are encouraged to come up with your own projects, crafts, and artwork. Attendees need to be able to work on their own, use materials and tools safely and responsibly, and clean up their work space when finished. Caregivers are encouraged to attend with and supervise young children.

Feeling the holiday spirit even in the heat of the summer? As part of our Community Reads "Christmas in July" theme this year, we invite you to join us in making some tropical snow globes, complete with palm trees, fish, and other beachy decorations of your liking! Have an entertaining evening chatting with fellow crafters, as we walk you through step-by-step how to create your very own summer wonderland. Finished products will be 3.5 inch snow globes, ready to go home with you at the end of the program, and to enjoy during summer (and winter!) months to come.  Due to limited supplies, registration is required and opens on June 9.
