Have a Hudson Holiday! This year we look forward to filling Hudson with lights and over the top decorations for our shops and award-winning restaurants. We invite you to enjoy our events this holiday season! Our Hudson Holiday events are made possible by the generous donations from area businesses and organizations with special recognition to the City of Hudson and the Hudson Area Home and Garden Club.   Window Decorating Contest Businesses throughout Hudson will be decorated and voted on by a select group of judges. Check out all the windows and enjoy your favorite decorations.  Find Santa  November 3 - December 2 Starting November 3, pick up your FREE 5 x 7 Passport at participating businesses! Search for the photos of Santa hidden throughout our many welcoming bistros and shops. Drop off your completed passport at Angel's Pet World by December 2 at 4:00 p.m. for a chance to win prizes. Light Up Hudson November 28, 7:00 p.m. Santa is escorted to Lakefront Park. With a wave of his wand, he illuminates the thousands of twinkling lights in the lavish holiday display along the St. Croix River. It promises to be a magical evening for everyone.    Buena Vista: A Stroll in the Park November 28 - February 15 Enjoy the twinkling lights dotting the shore line of the frozen St. Croix River all winter long. Bundle up the family, grab some hot cocoa, and head down to Lakefront Park!  Plaid Friday November 28 We encourage you to wear your plaid and do your holiday shopping locally this year!  Small Business Saturday November 29 Shop, Eat and Sip locally on Small Business Saturday! Keep it local because your dollars support the community, local businesses create local jobs, invest in your community, support the environment and keep Hudson unique! Candlelight Stroll  December 5, 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. Wagon rides through Lakefront Park aglow with luminary candles set the mood for this holiday event. Festively decorated shops and bistros greet you with the sights and sounds of the season. Tasty treats tempt your senses while restaurants showcase the best of holiday dining. Come see Helmer Dance Studio's talented Holly Doll dancers pose as live mannequins in downtown Hudson?s storefront windows. Santa & His Critters December 6, Noon - 3 p.m. Santa will visit with children in Lakefront Park. Children bring your lists; parents bring your cameras. Sweet treats, sled dogs, a petting zoo plus many other activities. Things are warming up for the 37th annual Hudson Hot Air Affair on Feb. 6-8, 2026, at EP Rock School and around Hudson. Find details about these countdown events and all the other Hot Air Affair events at HudsonHotAirAffair.com or visit us on Facebook for the latest announcements and details. Much of Hot Air Affair will happen outdoors and we are encouraging everyone to bundle up, head outside to the parks and open spaces and look up for the balloons on Saturday and Sunday. Hudson Hot Air Affair announces its 2026 event theme of “Sky Walkers Return to Rock” for the 37th annual celebration on February 6-8. We are delighted to return to our longtime venue at EP Rock School with many of our pilots returning to “walk” their hot air balloons across the sky. Known as the premier hot air balloon rally and winter festival in the Midwest, this family-friendly community event is presented by WESTconsin Credit Union and supported by hundreds of sponsors, partners and volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering with the Hudson Hot Air Affair, please check out our website’s volunteer page for a link to upcoming volunteer needs. Several countdown events are planned to lead up to the winter festival. They begin on Friday, December 12th, from 6:30-9pm with the Hudson Hot Air Affair Kick Off Fundraiser Meat Raffle at Big Guys BBQ Roadhouse, 1237 Hwy 35 North, Hudson, WI. Join us as we celebrate the “Sky Walkers Return to Rock” theme. Celebrate the return to EP Rock with a nod to our Star Wars theme. Other pre-events include: a January Name the Porta Potty Contest; Jan. 17th Countdown Event at Hudson Grocery Co-op; Jan. 24th Breakfast Crafts for Kids at Dick’s Bar & Grill; Jan. 24th Croix by Candlelight at YMCA Camp St. Croix; Jan. 31st Countdown Event at Jerry’s County Market; on Feb. 1st the Hudson Area Senior Center will host a Hotdish Cooking Contest and Feb. 4th the HHAA Canvas Party Painting Class. Hot air balloon flying is never guaranteed. Balloon rallies like Hudson Hot Air Affair require good weather conditions for balloon flights. If the balloons are not able to fly, please remember there is so much more to do in Hudson. Hudson, WI resident John Grancorvitz continues to share his stunning watercolor art with the community and beyond. His popular works—Hudson Arch, Willow River Falls, Birch Trees, and Sailboats—have been featured at Beloved Makers & Company for the past two years. We’re thrilled to announce that John will host our very first GATHER event! This intimate watercolor class will take place on the first Friday of each month, beginning January 2, 2026. Each session is limited to eight participants, and seats are available for both individuals and groups. Guests will enjoy refreshments and a beautiful charcuterie board, while the class fee includes a 90-minute session with John and a gift bag featuring a watercolor set and brushes—perfect for continuing your creative journey at home. Must be 21 years of age or older to participate. $25 / Person for General Admission $15 / Person for ‘Friends of CNC’ $10 / Person for Frosty 45 Participants Enjoy an after-hours hike in the scenic St. Croix River valley at Carpenter Nature Center. After our eyes adjust, we will head out on the trail to watch and listen for some of Minnesota’s native owl species. This portion of the event is outdoors; please dress for the weather. We will be hiking a short distance on a paved trail, but weather conditions can make the trail icy. You are welcome to bring Yak Traks or trekking poles if desired. We will also stop in the Visitor Center after the hike to meet CNC’s ambassador owl. Once we wrap up at Carpenter, you will drive the short distance to Spiral Brewery. The staff at Spiral will lead us through a guided tour of the flagship flavors and styles of their beers on tap at the moment in the taproom. The tasting includes a beer flight for each participant and a staff-led discussion around each beer sample. Enjoy the atmosphere of the bright and fun taproom while you learn about the history of Spiral Brewery and its beer. This experience will take approximately 45 minutes, with the option to stay for another beer you can purchase on your own! Cheers! Program fee includes a hike and 1 beer flight, and guided tasting.
