Mindfulness is the art of paying attention, of listening to your heart. Rather than worrying about the future or ruminating about the past, mindfulness can help you enjoy life more fully, effectively, and peacefully. Join us when you can to learn simple mindfulness and meditation techniques that can be incorporated into your everyday routine to reduce your stress and increase your well-being. Typically, each session will begin with a brief check-in, followed by a guided sitting meditation. Then Gloria will share reflections on some aspect of mindfulness. The group will discuss the topic and ask any questions about the practice. We will end with another sitting meditation. Experience in mindfulness or meditation is not necessary. This program is being offered both in-person and online through Zoom. If you would like to join by Zoom, please register below. Registration is not necessary for in-person attendance. If you would like to use one of the library's sewing machines, you can reserve one by registering for this program. Times and frequency vary by location, so be sure to check the full schedule at madpl.org/vote before traveling.  You can register to vote ON SITE when voting absentee in-person. Voters who need to register due to a recent move or name change will also need to show an acceptable proof of address document. Voter registration is not allowed the three days before an election. An absentee voter must return their own completed absentee ballot to Clerk staff at in-person absentee voting locations, including Madison Public Libraries. Learn how to extend the life of beloved textiles and Keep your clothes out of the landfill.  This free workshop will introduce participants to several techniques for mending clothing and repairing textiles by hand, using simple tools.  We will cover (mostly) invisible repairs and creative visible mending techniques for patching wovens and darning knits.  Participants are welcome to bring an item from home that needs repair or practice on provided samples.  Everyone is welcome, no experience necessary.  All materials and tools provided. Registration is required, and will open two weeks before the workshop, on 3/10/26. This session covers the same material as the session on February 24--please sign up for one of the sessions, but not both. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides in-person and virtual tax assistance free of charge with a special focus on taxpayers who are over 50 or have low-to-moderate income. Tax-Aide volunteers are trained and IRS-certified every year. Some situations are outside the scope of the service -- see what type of taxes they can prepare or ask if in doubt.  All Sequoya Library appointments will be in-person on WEDNESDAYS: 2/4, 2/11, 2/18, 2/25, 3/4, 3/11, 3/18, 3/25, 4/1, & 4/8. Our Dungeon Master Jared will provide support and help guide campaigns along with our adult D&D experts and our Youth Librarian Ruth. This weekly session is for beginners. About D&D: Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game that allows each player to create their own character to play. These characters embark upon imaginary adventures within a fantasy setting. A Dungeon Master (DM) serves as the game's referee and storyteller, while maintaining the setting in which the adventures occur.
