Tiered Dues Transition Small Group Meeting We will complete our transition to the tiered dues membership model by the end of 2026. If you have not selected a membership tier since this process began in 2022, you will need to do so by the end of this year. Ahead of your renewal month, we will reach out quarterly to invite you to a small-group meeting. During these sessions, we’ll walk you through the tier options, answer questions, and assist with updating your membership. If you already know you have not yet chosen a tier, you are also welcome to register for one of these meetings proactively. We’re happy to help whenever you’re ready.  Please note: If you do not attend a meeting or contact Laurie with your tier selection by the end of 2026, we will automatically place you in the tier that most closely aligns with your current dues amount and adjust your benefits accordingly. Speed Networking: A Quick Way to Expand Your Professional Contacts Hosted By: Hilton Garden Inn   Tuesday, April 14 Spots are limited so sign up today! This event is free for members, however a $25 cancellation fee will be applied for no-shows without a 48-hour notice Join us for Chamber Speed Networking, hosted by Hilton Garden Inn. The purpose of speed networking is to make as many connections as possible in a short amount of time. We will be using a lighting speed round robin format. The event moderator will ring a bell to indicate the beginning and end of each round. Once the round begins, you will share your business card FIRST, then introduce yourself and your purpose for being there. A few questions and answers back and forth can quickly clarify if there is any potential for a follow up phone call or meeting. At the halfway point, the conversation switches to the second person, who introduces themselves and their reason for attending. After a second exchange of information, the event leader rings a bell, and you move on to the next person. Each round will be timed and last just 4 minutes.   Throughout the event, you will continue to meet individuals, one at a time. The event culminates with Business Social Hour in the hotel lobby. This is to allot talking to individuals you did not get to talk to or seeking out someone who you met during the event and continuing the conversation.   Bring lots and lots of business cards!   Key things to share: Your name. Your title and company. The values you create for your clients, by describing a typical problem, what activities you used to solve it, and the actual result. You can round up by including something about your goals and the results you wish to achieve from the meeting. Questions to ask each other: What do you do? How can I help you do that better? What inspired you to start doing the work you’re involved with now? What are some strategies that you’ve found to be helpful for your recent work?   Event Timeline 2:45 PM – Event check in starts 3:00 PM – Speed Networking begins in hotel banquet room, please be in your seat and ready to go! 4:30 PM – Speed Networking ends 4:30 – 6:00 PM: Business Social Hour, Hotel Lobby – If you are registered for speed networking, you are automatically registered for Business Social Hour.   If you are only attending business social hour, please register HERE.

The State of the Wisconsin Economy: Past Patterns, Current Status, and Future Directions Presented By: Laura Dresser, Expert on the Wisconsin Economy, Jobs, and Wages, University of Wisconsin-Madison   In order to better understand the state of the Wisconsin economy, Laura Dresser will review broad historical economic trends of the nation and Wisconsin. Particular attention will be paid to the performance of the Wisconsin economy just prior to the Great Recession and how the economy has recovered. In addition, he will highlight strengths and weaknesses of the Wisconsin economy and how those may influence future directions. About the Speaker: Laura Dresser joined the SSW as Assistant Clinical Professor of Macropractice in 2017. She is also the Associate Director of COWS, a UW-Madison think-and-do tank where she has worked for more than two decades. Her research and practice has focused on low-wage work and workforce development systems. She has analyzed the structure of low-wage jobs, written about ways to build stronger labor market systems and worked extensively with labor, business, and community leaders to build them. A co-editor of The Gloves-Off Economy: Workpalce Standards at the Bottom of America's Labor Market, she is currently working issues of care work and the connection between quality care, quality jobs, and minimum wages.
