Our next community blood drive is quickly approaching.  We’ve hosted these blood drives since 1981.  With our June 25th blood drive an incredible milestone will be reached.  Specifically, we will have collected over 6,000 blood products, which equates to helping save the lives of over 18,000 local patients.  We couldn’t do this without having had the kind and generous dedication of so very many people who truly understand the critical importance of blood donation.   Many appointment times are available.  Each donor will receive a coupon for a pint of custard, courtesy of Culver’s of Muskego along with a coupon for a free car wash, courtesy of Roadrunner Express of New Berlin.  See flyer for additional details. The Muskego Water Bugs, in association with the Little Muskego Lake District, will be hosting the annual July 3rd fireworks show. The fireworks will be launched from a barge on Little Muskego Lake with viewing occurring form land and water. Viewing may occur from anywhere on Idle Isle. Limited parking will be available on city streets surrounding the lake, but no parking for vehicles with trailers. Park Arthur will be open for parking and viewing from 3 p.m. to dusk. Muskego Water Bugs volunteers will be directing parking. A $7 donation is requested to offset event costs. All traffic will enter Park Arthur from Martin Drive and exit on College Avenue following the fireworks. No re-entry is allowed. Hardtke Drive will be closed. See muskegowaterbugs.org for a map. Food and beverages will be available. (See details below.) Garage cans, hot coal receptacles, and porta potties will be available. The Mus Details: Event is on Wednesday, July 3 (not July 4). No on-site parking at Idle Isle. Parking at Park Arthur begins at 3 p.m. ($7) Free Shuttle Service Idle Isle will be closed until 3 p.m.  No public launch at Idle Isle on July 3. Chair: Joseph Kreuser (CAM Tech, Inc) The Events Committee helps organize and implement the Chamber's events for business members and the community. Chamber members are welcome to volunteer on the Events Committee. Interested? Contact [email protected]. Duties Attend committee meetings as scheduled. Focus on annual events organized by the Chamber of Commerce as identified and defined by the Chamber's Board of Directors. Assist in obtaining event sponsors and promoting the event to businesses and/or community. Volunteer in the planning, setup/clean up, and activities of the Chamber's events. Current annual events handled by this committee include the Awards Gala & Fundraiser (March), Jammin' in the Park (June), DandiLion Daze Parade (August), and Golf Outing (September). Benefits of Volunteering Meet, encourage, and collaborate with other business members and event guests. Create positive networking relationships. In an environment where employment legislation is complex, it is vital to be equipped with adequate HR knowledge to be able to handle HR situations more appropriately. This workshop is an introduction to the core competencies of the HR role and will cover best practices to effectively implement them. The following topics will be covered: The Roles and Responsibilities of HR – Learn the key responsibilities of HR which include but are not limited to consulting with executives on strategic objectives, recruiting, employee relations, performance management, benefits, and training. Recruitment - Develop an understanding of the role HR managers play in the recruiting process versus the line Manager and why. Compensation Learning Objective – Explore how HR’s management of the process ensures meeting both the organizational and functional team’s long-term strategies. Employee Development - Identify the key elements to consider when developing plans to help employees improve skills for their current and future roles. Performance Management - Explore the role of performance management programs in organizations and the influence management execution has on employee engagement and dedication. Employment Law – Discuss the laws that regulate the relationships between employers and employees, which set expectations of both what employers can expect and the rights of employees.
