Step into a world where light, shadow, and story come together through the timeless craft of traditional film photography. The Plymouth Arts Center proudly presents “50 Years of Film Photography,” a compelling retrospective exhibition featuring the work of Waukesha artist William Lemke, whose hand-crafted photographs capture five decades of quiet beauty, human connection, and fleeting moments preserved on film. The public is warmly invited to celebrate the exhibition and meet the artist at an opening reception on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 pm. Guests will enjoy an evening of art, conversation, and live piano music by Dan Ognavic. Admission is free and all are welcome. The exhibition is generously sponsored by Sargento. In an age dominated by digital imagery, Lemke’s dedication to traditional photographic methods offers visitors a rare and authentic experience. Each piece is carefully hand-processed using time-honored darkroom techniques, resulting in richly detailed silver gelatin prints that reveal both technical mastery and heartfelt storytelling. The exhibition will be on display in Gallery 110 North through May 8. William Lemke’s Artist Statement: As a photographic artist, my work is a sincere reflection of my encounters with the world, preserving fleeting moments in time through the lens of my camera. Each photograph is a narrative, a mood, and an emotion encapsulated within the frame, whether I am capturing the serenity of a landscape, the intricate beauty of a plant, the architectural grace of a structure, or the essence of a person. While my focus leans toward nature, I often find that the true spirit of a moment is enriched by the presence of people, making them indispensable collaborators in my artistic journey. William’s artistic process is labor intensive; he meticulously hand-processes each sheet and roll of film to produce negatives that are then transformed into images through the delicate art of enlarging. He finds beauty and authenticity in relying on traditional hand tools to enhance his prints, where highlights and shadows emerge through careful craftsmanship on silver gelatin paper.

The Painting days are Oct. 12th-Oct. 19th in Plymouth, Greenbush, and Glen Beulah within the boundary map provided. Artists will also be invited to participate in a special paint weekend on the scenic grounds of the Road America racetrack! Artists are encouraged to register in advance as the first 45 artists to register will be accepted. The fee is $45 if the registration form is received before October 5th. After October 5th the fee is $50. The prospectus/guidelines and registration form are available on the PAC website. A public reception, awards ceremony, and the silent auction will be held at the Plymouth Arts Center on Friday, October 20th. Cash awards totaling $3,000 along with non-cash merit awards will be presented at the awards ceremony. PLYMOUTH STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTIONS OF OPERA FOR THE YOUNG’S THE ELIXIR OF LOVE Opera for the Young will visit Plymouth, Wisconsin, to present The Elixir of Love at the Plymouth Arts Center on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 6:00 pm. A chorus of students from Parkview Elementary School, under the direction of Deb Sawyer, will join the company’s professional artists on stage, providing a unique and enriching performance experience. In addition to the public performance at the PAC, Opera for the Young will collaborate with all three Plymouth elementary schools to present in-school performances on Thursday and Friday. This residency is made possible through the generous support of the Plymouth Arts Center and a grant from the Garton Family Foundation. The public is invited to attend the evening show offered at the Plymouth Arts Center. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for Students. Tickets may be purchased at the PAC, 520 E. Mill Street, or online at PlymouthArts.Org. Advance tickets are recommended, as seating is limited to the first 150 guests. About Opera for the Young. Opera for the Young brings live, professional opera to elementary school audiences. All productions are fully staged, sung in English and created especially for children. Students appear onstage in chorus and cameo roles. OFTY audiences become acquainted with the original scores of master composers, set in contexts relevant to kids' 21st century lives: OFTY’s The Elixir of Love is set in America’s Old West. Opera for the Young annually presents 180 performances, reaching 75,000 children every school year throughout Wisconsin, northern Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Michigan and Kentucky. In the dusty town of Lonesome Gulch, the swaggering Sergeant Corey looms over timid Jimmy Reno as they vie for Miss Addy’s attention, while the sly Dr. Dulcamara rolls in, peddling her so-called magic elixir - nothing but a bottle of root beer! For the Arts Center’s show Parkview students take the stage as the Justice of the Peace, the Soldier, and a chorus of lively townsfolk. With playful melodies and laugh-out-loud comedy, The Elixir of Love whisks students away to America’s Old West, packed with timeless music, mischievous fun, and lessons on growing up and forgiveness. Students throughout the upper Midwest participated in a “Be a Designer” contest to help design Dulcamara’s outfit and her cure-all cart. The Elixir of Love will showcase elements that have come to define Opera for the Young: beautiful, challenging music; engaging, relevant stories; and myriad opportunities for student participation in both design and performance. About OFTY’s professional artists. Every OFTY production features four professional singers and one pianist. Professional cast members are selected after competitive auditions held each spring in Chicago and Madison. All professional roles are triple cast. Recent cast members have performed with such opera companies as Boston Lyric, Central City, Madison Opera, Florentine Opera, Finger Lakes Opera, Cleveland Opera, Union Avenue Opera, and the Grant Park and Chicago Lyric Opera choruses. The Plymouth Arts Center invites Midwest Artists to register for its annual Paint the Towns in Fall Color, en Plein Air (outdoor painting) competition and exhibition. The Painting days are Oct. 12th-Oct. 19th in Plymouth, Greenbush, and Glen Beulah within the boundary map provided. Artists will also be invited to participate in a special paint weekend on the scenic grounds of the Road America racetrack! Artists are encouraged to register in advance as the first 45 artists to register will be accepted. The fee is $45 if the registration form is received before October 5th. After October 5th the fee is $50. The prospectus/guidelines and registration form are available on the PAC website. A public reception, awards ceremony, and the silent auction will be held at the Plymouth Arts Center on Friday, October 20th. Cash awards totaling $3,000 along with non-cash merit awards will be presented at the awards ceremony. This event is graciously coordinated by artist Dan Rizzi of Plymouth.    The public is invited to view and bid on the "Paint the Towns" paintings at a festive reception and silent auction on Friday, October 20th from 6pm to 9pm. This is a free admission reception with live music and complimentary appetizers and desserts. It is a great opportunity to meet the participating artists and to bid on a favorite piece until 9:00pm.
