Enjoy the rare and unusual tea and the best the world has to offer.  Yahara Chocolate & Tea imports tea directly from China and Taiwan and works with local partners to offer tea from other parts of Asia, India, and Africa. Saturday Morning Tea Saturdays at 9:30 (join our mailing list to be notified of changes), join Brook and learn about the history and steeping technique for an amazing White, Green, Oolong, Black, Puer, Hei Cha, or any other tea that is great.  Along with tasting and learning about the tea, a free sample or that tea will be available to steep at home (alternate samples will provided occasionally). Saturday Morning Tea is on Saturdays at 9:30.  Brook will plan on 2-3 Saturdays per month, so watch for our weekly newsletter for information each week.  If Brook will not be hosting, a sample will be left with steeping instructions. Join Ellen Taylor, Dementia Care Specialist from the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Dane County (ADRC) for this 7-session program that focuses on a variety of lifestyle factors such as physical activity, emotional health, nutrition and social engagement. Abel Contemporary Gallery Announces Three New Exhibits Diane Washa – Biophilia Madison artist Diane Washa uses oil paint to interpret the landscape and make it her own. Through direct observation, she creates paintings that are sometimes soft, other times dramatic, but always with the sensitivity of a poet. Washa has been witnessing the landscape long before she began painting it. "We discover why we're passionate about art when memories come on strong or moments of transcendence remind us of what and who first sparked our artist drive." When Washa talks about the locations where she paints, the people she meets along the way become an important part of the story. "Painting in plein air isn't just about creating a piece of art in a beautiful setting. It's the journey of finding that place and the beautiful people I meet along the way." Group Show: Cups Perhaps the simplest, most utilitarian vessel, the cup possesses an immense history and enormous formal variation. This exhibit showcases cups in their many forms, and we are pleased to include work from over 40 artists from across the United States. In no. 5: Dinner for Two Leftovers by Connie Noyes Dinner for Two Leftovers extends Noyes' research into mourning by exploring the visceral responses of bodies and emotions intertwined with loss. Through photography, installa-tion, movement, video, and sound. The artist delves into themes of grief, cultural memory, and both individual and collective healing. What began as a personal inquiry extended to address collective grief related to global warming with a focus on water. Drawing on the Hydrocene theory, which shifts eco-aesthetics to "think as water” rather than merely "about water,” Noyes believes that by sharing grief, we can rediscover our most profound humanity.

This Class is for Students who have taken a Beginning Rosemaling Class 2 Day Class – November 8 (Saturday) and November 9 (Sunday), 2025 9:00 AM – 4PM and will be held at Sons of Norway Mandt Lodge - 317 Page Street, Stoughton, Wisconsin 53589. Class Fees: $125.00 Sons of Norway Members and Seniors (age 55 & over) and $155.00 Non-members (Sons of Norway). Registration form and payment due October 15, 2025 ($25.00 of this class fee is non-refundable if you cancel or do not show up for class) Nancy Odalen, VGM will be teaching this class. This is a class for beginning painters to build upon what they already learned during their first beginning rosemaling class. The class will be taught in oil. This class will have a project. You can either paint on a backgrounded masonite board or the project piece. Nancy will have the project piece available in the class for an additional cost. We ask that you purchase your own brushes and bring your own supplies. We will send out a supply list on or before October 15th. If you do not wish to purchase your own supplies – Nancy will have supplies available for this Beginning Class and you can purchase them from Nancy at a cost of $20.00. Please let us know at the time of registration what you wish to do. This will be an interesting, fun, and informative class that will provide you with a firm foundation in the art of Rosemaling. The Rabin Quartet is the Graduate String Quartet at UW-Madison's Mead Witter School of Music. Its members are working towards master's and doctoral degrees and serve as teaching assistants, leading orchestral sectionals, teaching string fundamentals to music education students, and performing as representatives of UW-Madison. The group is funded by generous donors and named in honor of Dr. Marvin Rabin, an internationally acclaimed music educator and Professor Emeritus at UW-Madison. As the father of the youth orchestra movement in the US, his work continues to positively impact countless young musicians to this day.
