September is Library Card Sign-Up Month! No matter what your tastes are, a library card hits all the right notes! With a library card, you can do more than check out books. From free classes and job resources to homework help, streaming media, and cultural events, today’s libraries connect communities to information, inspiration, and each other. This year’s theme, “A Library Card Hits All the Right Notes,” is a reminder that libraries offer something for everyone — no matter your age, background, or goals. Whether you’re checking out a classic story or trying something new, finding harmony at the library’s programs, finding your focus in a study room or vibing out in a cozy nook, or composing your future with new skills, there’s a seat in the front row at the library for you, and your library card is the ticket. Everyone who signs up for a new library card during the month of September will be automatically entered into a prize drawing! If you already have a library card, you can earn an entry to the prize drawing by telling us your FAVORITE way to use your library card! Submit your response online here. We’ll draw TWO names from the entries and each winner will receive a certificate that gets you a free dozen donuts every month for a YEAR, courtesy of Dunkin’ Donuts in Superior.

Our selection for October is Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner, a memoir of family, food, grief, and endurance. In this book, Zauner writes about growing up mixed-race, Korean food, losing her Korean mother, and forging her own identity in the wake of her loss.Book club meets TWICE per month so you can pick the time that works best for you — morning or evening! Do you have gently-used books, magazines, movies, puzzles, audiobooks, or CDs to donate to the Friends of the Library for a future book sale? The Friends accept donations on Wednesday mornings from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Items can be dropped off at the front entrance to the library. Members of the Friends will be on hand to assist you with unloading your donations. All items must be dropped off in boxes or bags.The Friends of the Library do NOT accept encyclopedias, textbooks, or any items which are moldy, smelly, damaged, unsightly or in non-sellable condition.Please only bring donations to the library during these hours, and please do not place donations in the outdoor book drop.
