Join internationally published travel and architectural photographer Andrew Pielage at Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin to learn the basics of sunset photography hands-on! Enjoy the rare opportunity to photograph Taliesin in the evening while learning about the best techniques for capturing the changing light. The evening begins with a welcome reception and instruction from Andrew, and then participants will be able to explore, taking interior and exterior photos. This class is open to guests of all levels and experiences. Phone cameras welcome!

The Mini Makers Market will feature 24 local artists and makers showcasing a wide variety of handmade items from art prints, illustrations, pottery, culinary delights, jewelry, home decor, bath and body items and much more. The event is hosted at Madison’s first distillery, Yahara Bay Distillers, just off of Verona Road. Shop makers with a glass of local libations (made on site!) in hand, all on the grounds of the very popular Yahara Bay Distillers! This event is free and no tickets are needed to come enjoy the fun. In the mid-19th century, America was losing ground, both socially and politically. How to get the country back on track was the concern of many leading cultural figures, including Frank Lloyd Wright. This presentation will examine how Wright looked to the writings of Ralph Waldo Emerson to restore Americans’ capacity for insight and innovation. Presenter: Ayad Rahmani, Washington State University. Part of a lecture series presented by Taliesin Preservation and the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation commemorating America’s 250th Anniversary and exploring Wright’s ideas about architecture and society in the modern world.

Join the Friends of Donald Park and Madison Area Astronomical Society at Donald County Park Saturday, August 15th at 8:00 pm.  We will gather at Pop's Knoll picnic area for a close-up look at the fabulous night sky.  Bring your family and friends and learn about the wonders of the planets and stars.  Bring your own telescope (if you have one), binoculars, chair or blanket, insect repellent and flashlight.  Volunteers from Madison Area Astronomical Society will give a brief presentation before the event begins.  In the event of rain or overcast skies, we will announce the cancellation on our websites by 4:00 pm.

We invite members of the community to attend one of our meetings to learn what great things we are doing in the community.  The Verona Lions Club is committed to making the Verona area a better place to live.  Whether it is screening children's vision at area pre-schools, collecting school supplies for the students in our schools, collecting stretch plastic to be made into benches that are donated to the community, holding food drives for the food pantry, or providing a free morning to visit with Santa the Lions truly live up to our motto of "We Serve".

Tired of fighting all those garden weeds? Good news - you can eat them! Join us in the Kitchen Garden at Taliesin to learn what weeds in your garden are delicious and nutritious. Learn about companion planting and how some weeds can actually benefit your garden when managed properly. We will also discuss the importance of understanding native vs invasive weeds, and how our gardening affects the greater ecosystem. Participants will tour the Kitchen Garden at Taliesin and have the opportunity to sample the weeds and the garden produce.
