Commodore meeting.  Chamber Commodores are a highly energized and visible group of approximately 50 community business leaders, who promote the Chamber's services, connect members to the chamber, and assist in welcoming businesses to our community.  As engaged members, the Commodores attend ribbon cuttings, networking event, and serve as volunteers for major events.  This group is formed every Spring.  For more information about joining the Commodores contact [email protected].

The contributions of small businesses in Decatur - Morgan County will be recognized at the Chamber's annual Small Business Awards Celebration. The following awards will be presented: the Raymon Baker-John Cook-Ralph Jones Small Business Person of the Year, the  Lynn C. Fowler Non-Profit Professional of the Year; the Arthur Orr Young Professional of the Year; and the recipient of the $2,000 Love Where You Launch Grant will also be announced. The 2025-2026 Excellence in Leadership graduates will be recognized as part of the program so those graduates do not need to register. Members who are celebrating milestone anniversaries will also be recognized. Please register by Monday, May 4.

Workforce Coalition Meeting - With a mission to positively impact our current employee pipeline to build a more capable and sustainable workforce, the Workforce Coalition has a specific focus on problem resolution: industry brings challenges to the table regarding their current workforce needs and concerns. Through this open communication between community stakeholders, we can provide support in connecting them to the proper resources. This event will highlight practical solutions to help you build and sustain a skilled workforce.   During this session, attendees will: Learn about 50 Skills for Success courses currently available, plus new programs in development, including Biotechnician and Drone Operator. Explore how these courses are built in partnership with employers to meet specific workforce needs. Gain insight into mobile simulator trailers that offer hands-on experience, career exploration opportunities and how to request them for your organization or events. Learn how the Innovation Center partners with the Alabama Training Network to deliver specialized workforce training in manufacturing, safety and technology. ​ Expand your knowledge and leadership skills at this Emerging Leaders event, which offers valuable opportunities for personal and professional growth. This three-day camp helps students gain hands-on experience with electric and hybrid vehicles, build an electric motor, learn the basics of gas engines – including setting the engine up on a test stand and making it run! Participants will also work with innovative diagnostic tools and have the opportunity to tour an automotive shop. This camp is for students entering 9th-12th grades and will be held at the Calhoun Community College Automotive Technology Center at the Decatur Campus. Sponsoring Automotive Technology Camp connects your brand with future members of the automotive industry while supporting them in gaining valuable, high-demand skills as well as partners you with Calhoun Community College to drive local workforce development. The Chamber's Educational Camp programs feature hands-on and interactive environments where students receive training and exposure to careers of the future. Automotive, Cyber, Healthcare, Precision Machining and SWeETy camps will be the featured programs for 2026, along with the potential of others added based on the needs of our workforce community. The audience will include high school students and education leadership teams in Decatur-Morgan County.

This two-day summer camp on June 16-17, 2026 will be held at the Calhoun Community College Decatur Campus! Open to twenty-five 9th-12th graders, this camp offers an immersive, hands-on exploration of careers within the nine programs of Calhoun’s Health Science Division, with a focus on career opportunities in the Decatur-Morgan County area. On day two, students will enjoy a guided tour of the Huntsville campus, with transportation provided by Calhoun. Sponsoring the Healthcare Camp connects your brand with future members of the healthcare industry while supporting them in gaining valuable, high-demand skills as well as partnering you with Calhoun Community College to help meet our local workforce development needs.
