Music and Movement is designed to accommodate a mix of ages and invites the entire family to participate in early literacy activities through songs, rhymes, finger plays, and movement activities. Music and Movement is a fun and interactive experience for the whole family that promotes the joys of learning for all ages. This program is geared for children of all ages and their parents/caregivers!  Free, 50 person maximum. Story Time tickets required. Another event, Music and Movement B will start at 11:15 for those that weren't able to make it inside for this event. Seating for Storytime is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Make Music San JosĂŠ is a free community-curated celebration of music held on the summer solstice. We look forward to celebrating with you on June 21, 2025. This year, Educational Park Branch Library is pleased to present Rosemarie Austin, who will be performing songs for children and families!  Rosemarie Austin is an educator and songwriter in the San Francisco Bay Area, who, since having two children of her own, has written songs that connect with a playful curiosity that is a large part of childhood. She is inspired by and tries to emulate performers who engage the child in us all, so that all family members are included. She writes original songs in multiple genres (children's, jazz, country, blues), including Pizza Train Song, Baby's Got No Blues Yet, and many more! Free. No registration is required. Enjoy reading new books over the summer?  Want to talk about what you've read?  Come to our Kid's Summer Book Club!  We'll have a fun discussion, activities, and snacks.  Participants must attend both sessions.  Books will be received at the first session and should be read by the second session.  At the first session, we'll hand out the books, talk about what we'll be reading, and make predictions.  Then, you'll take your books home and have two weeks to finish reading them.   At the second session, we'll discuss what we've read, share thoughts and opinions, and do a fun activity! More Information about the Contest The Graphic Novel Making Contest (GNMC) was developed in 2008 as a teen program at a single branch library in recognition of growing interest in graphic novels and graphic arts. Inspired by participantsâ enthusiasm and the quality of art, the contest grew into a system-wide annual tradition, open to participants of all ages and all California residents. The contest concludes with an awards ceremony to celebrate the creative efforts of all participants, announce the contest winners, and offer inspirational messages from guest speakers in the comics industry.
