New Zealand Pen Pal Program--Every Day!Thanks to a partnership between South Coastal Library, Kent County Library, and Wellington City Libraries, you can now have the opportunity to connect with a New Zealander! This is a fun way to learn about another country and make a new friend. We handle all the international postage - you bring in and pick up your letters at the library.How to sign up:Fill out a registration form. Registration forms are available at the library and online. Click here to register online. Parental permission and signature is needed for anyone to participate under the age of 18. Please register all persons under 18 in person at the library.Wait! After you are registered, library staff will work to match you with your New Zealand pen pal! Please be patient.Get matched! You will be notified with the full name of your pen pal and some basic information. Please use their full name when addressing envelopes!How the program works:Write your letter and drop it off at your library. Be sure to address it clearly!When your letter arrives from New Zealand, you'll be notified! Just stop in to the library to pick it up!Respond to your pen pal and write another letter! Drop it off again and we'll send it to New Zealand for you! Your return letter will come back to us, just as before.We will be sending and receiving monthly packages of letters! Calling all history fans! This book club is for you! We will meet on a select Tuesday most months to discuss a different historical fiction book at the South Coastal Library. Occasionally, we may choose to discuss and read a nonfiction title or a biography, however, most months will focus on historical fiction. Light snacks are provided. Have questions, ask for Kristin. This month we will be reading an older historical fiction novel, Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen. Did you know there is also a movie? While we will be focusing mostly on the novel, we will also briefly discuss the film for comparison and comment. Trevor and assistants will then provide 1-on-1 assistance as YOU apply what you've learned to your own devices in a hands-on session. In-person classes only.IMPORTANT: This series is for users who have some experience using their devices for email & browsing the internet. We will learn breathing techniques, postures, and exercises to promote flexibility and strength, balance, and relaxation. Please bring a yoga mat or towel from home. The instructor also recommends 4-inch-deep foam yoga blocks. If you are unable to get onto the floor easily, do not worry, we will provide chairs. There are options for all! We're happy to welcome local author Stephanie L. Fowler to discuss her latest book, Into the Night, which covers the 1968 murders of Wicomico County Sheriff Samuel A. Graham and jailer Albert L. Kelly by a prisoner named Joseph J. Bartholomey, Jr.Stephanie Fowler is a graduate of Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland and the winner of the 2001 Sophie Kerr Prize, the largest undergraduate literary award in the country. She won the award for a collection of creative nonfiction short stories about the Delmarva Peninsula.
