Tevis & Community GalleriesThis exhibition features work by Members of the Carroll County Arts Council See and enjoy the artistic talents of your neighbors! An exhibition featuring 125 works by Members of the Carroll County Arts Council. This annual show is a highlight of the year, including works in a wide variety of mediums, themes and viewpoints, from oil to mixed media, from a Nepalese Temple to a rose headed doll! See the five inaugural Carroll County Commissioners’ Award Winners and vote (FREE) for your favorite for the People’s Choice Award. Voting runs through the last day of the show. Come into the quiet and calm of our galleries, leave the noise outside and be transported through this visual feast for the senses. Galleries are free and open to the public. All works are for sale. Teen Open Studio $115 to register for all remaining sessions or $20 per session drop-in fee (pay upon arrival) Open Studio classes give us the opportunity to render things in their true character, unlimited by mediums and the public gaze, all in the atmosphere and presence of other creatives. Sign up for all 6 sessions here! An artist will oversee the class to assist students as needed. Our supplies are available to all participants and students are welcome to bring their own or a project they are working on as well. Explore painting with soft pastels through the process of layering to create a beautiful fall landscape of your choice. Learn about using a variety of hard to soft pastels, paper choices, the underpainting processes, mark making, and layering, followed by a demonstration just before creating your very own masterpiece. The Kruger Brothers: Common Ground Downtown Concert Series7:30 pm, Tickets $40 Bringing excellence to audiences worldwide, The Kruger Brothers are members of the Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame, the International Banjo Hall of Fame and the American Folk Music Hall of Fame and a true staple of the American Folk Music community. The Kruger Brothers will be joined by mandolin player Jonah Horton.If you enjoy truly accomplished musicianship, this concert is for you. Join us! The Kruger Brothers are a trio of musicians known for their bluegrass and new American folk music. Jens Kruger (banjo, harmony vocals), Uwe Kruger (guitar, lead and harmony vocals), and Joel Landsberg (bass, harmony vocals) have been performing together professionally since 1995. They began playing North American folk music at an early age and were particularly inspired by recordings of Doc Watson, Flatt and Scruggs, Bill Monroe, and other progenitors of country, bluegrass, and folk music. Their first public performances were as a duo, busking on the streets of cities throughout eastern and western Europe. The trio has gained the attention of some of the musicians, including Bill Monroe, Doc Watson, Tut Taylor, and Bobby Hicks, that once served as models. Jens Kruger has been inducted into the Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame, and the group has been recognized for their innovative and exploratory approach to music.
