STEM Skills are all heavily based in Literacy skills and our activities touch upon a broad range of developmental domains including fine motor development, gross motor development, literacy development, language development, social emotional skills and much more. This series of in person meditation classes runs for 11 weeks. 3/19 thru 5/28. Please register for each individual class session. Some of the styles of concentrative meditation practice that we may explore will include BRFWA (breathe, relax, feel, watch and allow), Autogenics Relaxation, Mantra Meditation (repetition of a specific phrase), Mudra Meditation (a particular shape of hands, fingers, arms), Metta (Loving Kindness) Meditation, and Breath awareness. Class will begin with a warm welcome, an introduction into the type of practice that we will be doing, a settling-in practice with breath work, before settling into a comfortable seat on your mat or in a chair (or in a lying down position if a yoga mat is brought). Next will be a guided meditation followed by 10 to 20 minutes of stillness / silence. The class will end with an integration practice that may include poetry reading, silent journaling and sharing experience with the group. Registrants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat, beach towel, blanket, or cushion to sit/lay on and a journal and pen. Connolly, a retired registered nurse with 43 years of experience, is a certified 500-hour Kripalu Yoga Teacher, Level 1 iRest Yoga Nidra Teacher, and Reiki II Practitioner.
