Frosted Fireflies is a live music and original photography performance project epitomizing empowerment through struggle and alienation in the human condition. The multi-media presentation is a sequence of musical vignettes marrying words with imagery leading the audience through a journey of the character’s personal journey and ultimate self discovery. Content is a mix of personal reflection and drama exploring themes of exclusion, inequity, marginalization, love, loss, sacrifice, redemption, triumph and celebration. In this creative writing workshop, we will explore how various artistic mediums explore similar ideas and the differences and similarities therein, then write our own pieces inside these mediums using what we’ve learned. The primary mediums we will look at are poetry, comics, and prose fiction.  This class is intended for ages 16 and up and writers of all experience levels. There is no homework or grades. Instead, each class will simply consist of reading and discussing excerpts from various published works (such as those from Shakespeare, My Chemical Romance, and Tatsuki Fujimoto), then creative writing exercises followed by respectful and helpful critique of each other's work.  The class will run on May 10th, 17th, and 31st from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Please contact Shane at [email protected] to register for this three-week class.  This event is not sponsored by the Millis Public Library. https://millislibrary.assabetinteractive.com/meeting-and-study-rooms/cartoons-poems-and-prose-exploring-different-modes-of-expression-in-writing/
