An Evening of Poems by Robert Frost with Stephen Collins Introduction by Needham Poet Laureate Anne E. G. Nydam An Evening of Frost is a unique, interactive performance that begins with a short biographical introduction into the poet’s life. Robert Frost is greatly misunderstood. Certain people, some academics, and politicians included have tried to pigeonhole him, however, the man is far more complicated than the surface indicates. This is, after all, a man who voted for Eugene Debs, one of the best known Socialists of the United States, but was vehemently opposed to Franklin Roosevelt and “The New Deal”. It is this man that is seen in his poems that are often dialectic between chaos and order. As part of the performance, an open discussion of the following poems will include:           “A Tuft of Flowers”              “Mending Wall”           “Birches”           “After Apple Picking”           “Acquainted with the Night”           “Desert Places” Stephen is hoping that people will come having read these poems, willing to discuss them. The performance closes with a dramatic reading of Frost’s masterful use of blank verse in the hauntingly memorable “The Death of the Hired Man”!  About Stephen: Stephen Collins grew up in Cambridge and received a BA in Literature from UMass Boston. After twenty plus years in a sales career, he is back doing what he truly loves – performing and teaching. Recently he has been teaching seminars on Whitman, Hardy, Shakespeare, Frost, and Contemporary Poetry at various locations. McIver Series 2025: Authors Paul and Peter Reynolds - Create Bravely: Are YOU Ready to Make Your Mark? Paul and his twin brother Peter H. Reynolds proudly proclaim their 200-year mission - to create and share positive media, storytelling and technology to move the world to a better place. The impact of their films, storybooks for all ages, and creativity software has been felt by millions around the globe - especially in classrooms, school libraries and other places of learning. Core to their message is the deep-seated belief that positive, creative human potential can be nurtured in all of us - but only if we are brave enough to tap into it.  Peter and Paul will share some of their many stories, including their award-winning picture book Going Places, and Peter’s newest book The Gift of Words, which is the sequel to his #1 New York Times best-selling storybook The Word Collector. Along with a drawing demonstration, the brothers will also share their creative process, offer tips to attendees to support their own writing and creative endeavors, and take questions from the audience. BIO: Peter H. Reynolds and his identical twin brother Paul, launched their Boston-based educational media/edtech firm FableVision nearly 30 years ago to create and share positive media, storytelling and technology with a goal of moving the world to a better place. As NY Times best-selling author & illustrator, Peter has penned and/or illustrated many award-winning books, including The Dot, Ish, The Word Collector, Happy Dreamer, Say Something, and Be You, as well as, the best-selling Judy Moody series.  Peter also collaborates on storybooks with Paul, including Going Places, a picture book about creativity and engineering, and a STEM-meets-Arts (STEAM) early chapter book series called Sydney & Simon, which includes Full STEAM Ahead!, Go Green!, and To the Moon!
