The Massachusetts Library Collaborative's 50+ Job Seekers Group meets via Zoom on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, from 9:30am to 11:30am. Informal networking takes place from 9am to 9:30am and 11:30am to noon. If you are unemployed and actively looking, underemployed, seeking a new career direction, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your "Encore Career," this networking group program is perfect for you! Remember, 85% of jobs are found through networking! Join us in a professional forum for networking with peers in a safe and comfortable environment conducive to developing new relationships and developing skills and strategies to help in your career transition. Each meeting features a new topic. Meetings include a presentation and interactive workshop on topics relevant to career transition, guest speakers, access to hiring managers, small group breakout rooms to network, and 1-on-1 coaching guidance. Participating on a regular basis will give job seekers the many tools and strategies needed for a successful job search. Each biweekly meeting is facilitated by Deborah Hope, MBA, PCIC, an experienced executive career coach. Deborah is a former Fortune 500 executive, investment banker and entrepreneur. She transitioned to executive coaching over 12 years ago. Deborah has coached with Harvard Business School Executive Education programs and the Massachusetts Conference for Women. She has been trained or certified in a variety of coaching models and assessment tools. Deborah has facilitated 50+ job seekers networking groups since 2016. Quincy 400: Author visit with Grace Lin; How a Book is Made

We are excited to welcome New York Times bestselling children’s author Grace Lin to the Thomas Crane Public Library for 2 special programs as part of our Quincy 400 series On Saturday, June 21st Grace Lin will share How a Book is Made featuring her book Ugly Vegetables at the Main Library at 10 am and at 1:00 pm she will be at the North Quincy Library for A Big Mooncake: Presentation and Reading. These events are appropriate for children in grades K-5 and their caregivers. Please join us for one or both programs. Grace Lin is a New York Times bestselling author and illustrator of more than 25 books. She has won numerous literary awards for her work, including a Newbery Honor for Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, a Theodor Seuss Geisel Award for Ling and Ting, and a Caldecott Honor for A Big Mooncake for Little Star. Her book When the Sea Turned to Silver was a National Book Award Finalist. In 2016, Grace and her art were recognized by President Obama’s office as a Champion of Change for Asian American and Pacific Islander Art and Storytelling. In 2022, Grace was awarded the Children’s Literature Legacy Award from the American Library Association for her “substantial and lasting contribution to children’s literature through books that demonstrate integrity and respect for all children’s lives and experiences.” Before Grace Lin was an award-winning author and illustrator, she was the only Asian girl (except for her sisters) at her elementary school in Upstate New York. That experience— good and bad—has influenced her books and made her an advocate for cultural diversity in children’s literature. Grace is also an occasional commentator for New England Public Radio and created the video essay, “What to do when you realize classic books from your childhood are racist” for PBS NewsHour. Grace truly believes, “Books erase bias, they make the uncommon everyday, and the mundane exotic.
