Cinco’s Cantina, a local, family-owned Mexican restaurant with locations in Rochester, Dover, and Epping, is proud to announce a month-long fundraising initiative in support of Gather, a nonprofit dedicated to ending food insecurity in the Seacoast region. The fundraiser will run from Wednesday, October 1, through Friday, October 31, 2025. Cinco’s has set a $5,000 fundraising goal in support of Gather’s mission. Throughout the month, guests at any of Cinco’s three locations will have the chance to enjoy exclusive food and cocktail offerings, with a portion of these featured items going directly to Gather: San Jose Burrito: straight from the family’s recipe book. Grilled chicken, chorizo, rice and beans. Topped with melted Mexican cheese and pico de gallo. Cinnamon Apple Margarita: blends crisp apple flavor with a hint of cinnamon spice for the perfect balance of sweet and bold. Refreshing, festive, and full of flavor, perfect for supporting a great cause, one sip at a time!  Pop-up Menu Item: The Gather Plate: full of tender pork, fresh veggies, fluffy rice, beans and tortillas. The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire is excited to welcome back Oaxacan wood carver Norberto Fabian, son of the late master carver Ventura Fabian! Norberto will share his artwork with museum guests, do a demonstration, and answer questions. This special guest visit celebrates Mexican folk art and culture, and Norberto’s beautiful finished carvings will be on display. Visitors can take inspiration from Norberto’s style and make a Day of the Dead inspired craft. This program will start at 10:30am (during the museum’s morning play session from 9 am–Noon) on Sunday, November 2, is included with museum admission, and is, as always, free for Museum Members. For some children, a museum visit is challenging and over-stimulating. The Exploring Our Way: Sensory Friendly Playtimes at the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire in Dover are exclusive to families of children with special needs. These reduced admission, low-sensory events are designed for children with autism spectrum or sensory processing disorders to explore the Museum along with their families without the noise, crowds, and stimulation of a typical day. The museum is closed to the public during Exploring our Way playtimes. We limit attendance, turn down sounds and lights, provide a quiet zone with sensory activities, and have noise canceling headphones to borrow. A medical diagnosis is not required. The 8th Annual Greater Seacoast Housing Summit, hosted in partnership by the Workforce Housing Coalition of the Greater Seacoast and the Seacoast Chamber Alliance, brings together business, municipal, and nonprofit leaders to explore this year’s theme: Employer-Sponsored Housing and the Business Community’s Role in Advancing Housing Solutions. Keynote speaker Phil Sletten, Research Director at the New Hampshire Fiscal Policy Institute, will examine the relationship between housing and the economy in New Hampshire and the Greater Seacoast region through data—highlighting trends in migration, home prices, cost burden, and commuting. Following the keynote, WHC Executive Director Emmy Ham will moderate a panel discussion on employer-assisted housing solutions, featuring three business leaders who have taken innovative steps to provide housing for their workforce. Joseph Linnehan of Tinios Hospitality Group, Jennifer Sargent of Dartmouth Health, and Linnea Grim of Strawbery Banke Museum will share why their organizations chose to invest in housing—whether through constructing or owning buildings, managing master leases, or creatively repurposing historic properties. Instead of food, art supplies are on the menu! Enjoy live acoustic music while you create art with friends or make new ones on Saturdays 4-6. Get inspired with your friends or on your own! Your base session includes a wide selection of dry drawing materials and specialty papers. When you arrive, you’ll be able to choose your supplies from our in-studio art menu, with the option to upgrade to premium wet mediums or mixed media combinations. You will have the option to choose objects from the still life buffet, a reference photo from the rack, a self-portrait mirror, an expressive art stencil, or take a Polaroid to work from.

Have you ever been to a ceili, or miss going to one? Come join us Sunday November 9th in Durham for an afternoon of lively music, dancing, and the spirit of community coming together. We dance Irish Set dances which are folk-style dances done to jigs, reels and polkas, with a distinct aerobic quality. As we say, why Jog when you can Jig?! You’ll be surrounded by happy people and tunes that set your toes to bouncing, your face to grinning, and your heart pattering to the beat. Participants can bring their own image, printed on paper (please, no smaller than a 5x7 reference) and we will provide a few options as well. We will also offer simple still life options. This class will give participants the basic info for starting a painting using a photo reference or simple still life. Recommended Supply list, we can help supplement if necessary: Micheals in Newington (Dickblick or Jerrys Artarama online) should have everything you need 5x7” or 9x12” canvas panel Oil paints: I use Gamblin regularly. alizarin crimson and cadmium red, cadmium yellow, ultramarine blue, sap green, white, at minimum Gamsol paint thinner Oil brushes, filbert is a shape that I like, also flats…my most used size are usually 4 & 6…many teachers will tell you to start with a big brush 8-10 and save small brushes for finishing. Small brushes for details are helpful 1-2. About the instructor: Christy lives in Newmarket, New Hampshire. She enjoys working in her home studio but has discovered a passion for painting en plein air. She earned a degree in Studio Art and Education from Denison University in 1997 and continues to love learning, while working with other artists on the Seacoast and around the country. Christy paints quickly and loves to fill her canvas with bold colors. The subject of her paintings varies from landscapes and seascapes to figurative paintings but they all express joy and warmth. As a busy Mom of three daughters, she is often overwhelmed with trying to fit it all in. She would love to be able to stop time every once in awhile, “I think that’s what I like the most about painting, it gives me a chance to slow down and really focus on the beautiful moments in life that we are often too busy to enjoy...but I still have to paint fast ‘cause who knows how much time I’ll have before I’m needed elsewhere!”.

Are you expecting a child or welcoming a new baby to your family? Join us for this free special celebration here at the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire! Museum staff will highlight play-based learning practices and share social opportunities for new parents and caregivers. Also joining us will be friends from local new parent services groups, including Portsmouth Regional Hospital, sponsor of the Museum’s Baby Feeding Room. This event is free and open to all families who are expecting or have welcomed a new baby through adoption, birth, or foster care. Babies and siblings are welcome to attend. Registration is required. Join us for Junior Science at the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire. We are excited to invite junior scientists (ages 3.5–5 years old) to our November session, offered on Monday mornings! This 45 minute drop-off class includes a story and a fun science experiment related to each month’s theme. Grown-ups are welcome to stay in the building during class time, and families with siblings may opt to play on the second floor during the class time—please note that the museum is closed to the public on Mondays. Cost is Members $60/child; Non-Members $66/child. Pre-registration is required.
