Saturday May 9th 10am-12pm Seaway Visitor Center located at 76 Barnhart Island Road at 1 pm will host a special showing of the WPBS episode "Queen Elizabeth II to Christine the History Queen." Massena NY's royal history takes center stage, from Queen Elizabeth II's 1959 dedication of the Eisenhower Lock to Christine's own birthplace. Dorothy Kormanyos a local Massena resident is featured in the video discussing her role as a waitress for the Queen's luncheon held in Cornwall. Christine Darrow will be there and hopefully Dorothy Kormanyos!   The official Spring Fever Fest button is available throughout the village and at the Spring Olympics. The button was designed by Hanley White, a fourth grader at Jefferson Elementary School in Mrs. Clary’s art class.

Genealogy For Beginners The Ogdensburg History Museum is excited to announce a new series of "Genealogy for Beginners" workshops led by veteran genealogist and fan-favorite presenter, Dale Sheldon. These hands-on sessions are designed to help residents navigate the rewarding journey of tracing their family history. Beginning this spring, Sheldon will guide participants through the essential steps of building a family tree, from mastering census records to breaking through "brick walls" in their research. Workshop Schedule (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.): May 16 June 13 July 11 August 8 September 12 What to Expect: Participants will gain practical skills in several key areas, including: Starting your family tree and establishing best practices. Understanding census records and common historical sources. Utilizing free online tools and resources. Specialized Assistance: Finding documentation for Canadian citizenship certificates. To get the most out of these sessions, the use of a computer is highly recommended, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptops. Thousand Islands Golf Classic We are excited to announce that the planning for Samaritan’s 29th Annual Thousand Islands Golf Classic is underway! This year’s schedule is as follows: Online Auction: Monday, May 18 - Thursday, June 4 - Dinner and Live Auction: Thursday, June 4th, Edgewood Resort on the beautiful St. Lawrence River in Alexandria Bay - Golf: Friday, June 5, at the Thousand Islands Country Club, Wellesley Island. A portion of this year's Thousand Islands Golf Classic will again support the construction of a new $12 million Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) in the hospital, a much-needed resource in the North Country. Funds raised will allow Samaritan to provide life-saving cardiac interventions in a state-of-the-art facility in Watertown. The new Cardiac Cath Lab will feature Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) capabilities, allowing for rapid and effective treatment of heart attacks and other cardiovascular conditions. Currently, patients must travel outside our region to access these critical services, leading to treatment delays that can negatively impact care.

62nd Annual Dairy Festival Days The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce is preparing for the 62nd Annual Dairy Festival Days in Canton, scheduled for Friday, June 5, and Saturday, June 6. For planning purposes, here is the Traditional Event Schedule (subject to change): Friday, June 5: Vendors begin setup in the park at 3 p.m. The Big Wheel Races follow, with registration at 5:30 p.m. and races at 6 p.m. The evening concludes with the "Block Dance" featuring live music; attendees are encouraged to bring their own seating. Saturday, June 6: Vendors open at 10 a.m. The Dairy Festival Parade begins at 1 p.m. Throughout the day, the park will host a petting zoo and interactive display booths. As a long-standing Canton tradition, the Dairy Festival draws visitors from across the region. We are currently seeking member participation and sponsorship to maintain the quality of this annual event. How to Get Involved: Park Vendors: Applications are available at this LINK.
