We are Phoenix Festival which is a performing arts festival in Nyack. This will be our 4th Annual Event which will feature 14 performances in various Village venues (Nyack Center, Hudson House, The Library, Memorial Park, etc) from Oct 2-16. I am writing to you about one of the performances where we would ask for your help.We have a "Public Works" performance of Arthur Miller's drama The Crucible. The reason this is considered public works is that the cast will be a combination of professional actors and residents of Nyack and Rockland, who will play some of the non-featured roles and help out with the village crowd scenes. Phoenix Festival's public works productions intentionally blurs the line between professional artists and community members creating theater that is not only for the people, but by and of the people as well, exemplifying the Festival's commitment to community as a key tenet of its mission.We are particularly interested in families who would like to participate, so mom & dad and younger siblings and grandma and grandpa are all very welcome. Projects can be either individual events or experiences. Experiences are themes and programs which highlight special features and assets of Nyack such as “Outdoors”, “Foodie”, “History”, etc. throughout the year.Grant amounts are expected to range from $1,000 to $7,500. The Hudson Valley EcoTones Ensemble embeds throughout Upper Nyack's River Hook Preserve in an innovative and enchanting live music performance, inviting audience members to embark on a musical walking journey through the preserve with jazz and classical chamber ensembles highlighting the wisdom offered by River Hook's notable trees.Time: 2:00pm EDTRiver Hook Preserve, 626 North Broadway, Nyack, NY 10960Tickets: General Admission $10-$100 (Pay As You Choose, $35 Suggested)The Hudson Valley EcoTones Ensemble embeds throughout Upper Nyack's River Hook Preserve in an innovative and enchanting live music performance, inviting audience members to embark on a musical walking journey through the preserve with jazz and classical chamber ensembles highlighting the wisdom offered by River Hook's notable trees.The Music Trail is followed by a sit-down large ensemble concert set at the preserve's central Carriage House Stage by the world-class Hudson Valley EcoTones Ensemble alongside the Nyack vocal ensemble Collective Accord directed by Dru Pluhowski, the Nyack High School Chamber Orchestra directed by Tanya Chanphanitpornkit, and featured vocal soloists Ilana Davidson and Gino Sitson.New compositions by cellist, composer & EcoTones director Jody Redhage Ferber with lyrics by poet Lily Greenberg will be premiered, as well as music and arrangements by Gino Sitson and Ben Kono. The Nyack High School art department directed by Danielle McDonald create hand-carved woodblock signs for each trailside stage, and Strawtown Studio collaborates for interactive trailside elements.Bring your own (BYO) camp chair, blanket, food, and drink, and wear good walking shoes. River Hook's trail is ADA accessible. Tickets are Pay What You Want. The All Ways Writing Circle offers time, space, community, and inspiration to get some writing done. This is for anyone who wants to write—in any genre—and would benefit from dedicated time. Facilitated by Lily Greenberg, participants will be offered a prompt, approximately 45 minutes to write, then a chance to share their work in a warm and supportive group setting. Music Sessions @ RoCA: Kate TaylorSaturday, June 7 at 7:30pmTickets: $25 Adults / $20 Students and SeniorsKate Taylor, of the renowned Martha's Vineyard via North Carolina musical clan that includes brothers James, Livingston, Alex and Hugh, arrived at Red House Records in 2021 with a new studio album entitled: WHY WAIT! which reunites her with many of the key players, Russ Kunkel, Danny Kortchmar, and Leland Skar, who backed her on her 1971 debut, SISTER KATE. Produced by music veteran Peter Asher, who produced SISTER KATE, WHY WAIT! marks with its release the 50th anniversary of their original collaboration. WHY WAIT! was released on Red House Records in the late summer of 2021.As on SISTER KATE, she covers some of her favorite songwriters and songs, including a version of her brother James' "I Will Follow," The Beatles' "Good Day Sunshine" and Taj Mahal's "He Caught the Katy,". Kate, who loves singing R&B, contributes two self-penned songs: the upbeat title track, "Why Wait!" and the evocative "I Got a Message."She also does a version of Little Feat's "Long Distance Love" and the 1963 girl group hit by The Exciters, "Tell Him." She does versions of Tommy James's "Crystal Blue Persuasion" and Nancy Wilson's "How Glad I Am".The spark for this album was ignited at Kate's birthday party when her agent (who also manages Asher), brought up the fact that the key players who appeared on Sister Kate are still around and very active (most recently as members of The Immediate Family). Asher loved the idea of recording with Kate again on their 50th anniversary, and Kate was instantly on board, writing the title track. Peter and Kate assembled a group of songs complemented by her bluesy voice.James Taylor told Rolling Stone: "For Kate to be doing this with Peter, and that both of them have this life experience that brings them back together, it's really a moving thing.
