Each film will be screened in either Mandarin or Cantonese with English subtitles.May's film is the historical comedy The Lychee Road (2025), co-written, directed by and starring Da Peng. The film is an adaptation of the 2021 historical novel The Lychees of Chang'an, written by Ma Boyong. In the Tainbao era of the Tang Dynasty in the 8th century CE, Li Shande is a low-ranking functionary in the imperial government set with the seemingly impossible task of procuring fresh lychees from Lingnan province and bringing them back to Chang'an - more than a thousand miles away - in time for the birthday celebration of the emperor's favored consort, Yang Guifei. The workshop runs for 6 weeks in April and May and features scientifically grounded topics such as better sleep, proactive health problem solving, nutrition and healthy eating, breathing and relaxation techniques, and mobility. Get the HeLP you need to live your best life!IMPORTANT NOTE: Registrants should expect to attend ALL SIX weekly workshops, as the material covered builds upon the prior sessions. The United States has always been a nation of immigrants, but questions of who and how have roiled public debate from the very beginning. Join Scarsdale local and retired attorney Robert Groban for a clear sighted look at the historical context of the nation's immigration laws, the origins of contemporary controversies over topics such as asylum, migrant workers, and family-based immigration, and disputes over current enforcement efforts. Mr. Groban will conclude by offering his personal observations on the immigration system and the role it has played in the history of the nation. There will be time for questions and answers at the end of the presentation.This presentation will, by its nature, touch on current political controversies and the immigration policy of the current administration. It is expected that participants in this event will actively listen and engage in civil discourse.---------------------------------------------------------------Robert S. Groban, Jr. is a graduate of Scarsdale High School, Williams College, and The NYU School of Law. From 1976-81, he was a Special Assistant in the U. S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, where one of his principal responsibilities was enforcement of the nation’s civil and criminal immigration laws. During this period, Robert also supported the Justice Department’s then newly formed Office of Special Investigations in its efforts to locate and remove Nazi War Criminals and sympathizers. After the U.S. Attorney’s Office, he joined Epstein Becker & Green, where he founded and led its Immigration Law Group until 2018, when he became the managing partner of the New York office of Barry Appleman & Leiden, a leading national immigration law firm. Robert remained in that position until July 2020, when he retired. During the course of his career, he also served as an adjunct professor at Williams College, where he taught a Winter Study course on the Supreme Court for over 25 years.

Join Marcus Renna in the Scott Room for a screening and discussion of the 1958 psychological thriller Vertigo, directed by Alfred Hitchcock and starring James Stewart and Kim Novak. The screenplay was written by Alec Coppel and Samuel A. Taylor and was loosely based on the 1954 novel D'entre les morts by French author duo Boileau-Narcejac.San Francisco detective John "Scottie" Ferguson (Stewart) retires due to his acrophobia after witnessing a fellow policeman fall to his death during a rooftop chase. Left with nothing to do, Scottie agrees to a request from Gavin Elster, an old college acquaintance, to follow Elster's wife Madeline (Novak), who Elster claims is acting strangely and believes she is possessed by the ghost of one of her ancestors, Carlotta Valdes, who had died by suicide. When Scottie witnesses Madeline jump into San Francisco Bay, he rescues her. In gratitude, Madeline accompanies him as they explore the city and the surrounding countryside. Suddenly urgent, she runs to the church where Carlotta lived and ascends the bell tower. Scottie attempts to follow her but is unable due to his fear of heights and can only watch as Madeline seemingly plunge to her death. And that is when the real intrigue begins...It received considerably mixed reviews upon release, but today Vertigo is consistently considered one of the greatest films of all time. Vertigo pioneered many innovative film techniques, including the first ever use of the dolly zoom effect.
