Each DLL is comprised of equipment and software for digitization projects, including 8mm and super8 film scanners, photo and document scanners, vinyl record and cassette recorders, microphones, and VHS tapes. Digital Legacy Lab Orientations are available at least once a month to provide an introduction to the Digital Legacy Lab’s equipment and the process of digitization. The orientation is lecture-based and does not include hands-on training with any equipment. Additional individual support is available during consultation hours with the Digitization Specialist.Registration is required.

NOTE: This event is at the Administrative Center (12701 Ravenwood Dr. Chardon, OH 44024), not at Bainbridge or the Chardon Creativity Center.This is the mandatory training session for the laser engraver in the Geauga County Public Library’s maker spaces. The laser engraver can engrave wood, metal, plastic, glass, leather, and cardboard. You can also cut certain materials with the laser. Learn how to engrave and cut flat and cylindrical objects like a drinking glass so that you can come to the Bainbridge branch or to the Chardon Creativity Center and create your own one-of-a-kind items.All ages welcome to attend the training session. Children under 15 need a guardian with them to use the laser engraver. The guardian must also attend this training before helping a minor with the engraver. If you will require assistance, the library recommends finding your own assistant, who must also attend this mandatory training before working in the maker spaces. This training will cover both laser engravers available in the Geauga County Public Library system.Must have a Clevnet or Geauga County Public Library card to sign the user agreement at the end of the session.Click the link below for the written tutorials for this specific equipment for reference.Registration is required.

In the Fall of 1942, Nancy Love formed and led the Women's Auxiliary Ferrying Squadron (WAFS) comprised of 28 women who each had a minimum of 500 flying hours. That same year, Jacqueline Cochran was authorized to recruit female pilots to fly Army trainers and were dubbed the Women's Flying Training Detachment (WFTD). By the summer of 1943, Cochran was appointed Director of all Women Pilots and renamed the WAFS and WFTD as the Women Airforce Service Pilots. Learn about these heroic women when Alexandra Lausin, Collections Manager of the International Women’s Air and Space Museum, in Cleveland will present this inspiring program.

It was originally set for 6:00pm.NOTE: This training takes place at the Chardon Creativity Center makerspace located at Chardon High School (151 Chardon Ave. Chardon, OH 44024) not the Chardon Branch.Come watch the laser engraver as it performs an example project! See the process and ask any questions about using the engraver. Drop in any time during the program. The demonstration will happen every 15 minutes, so you can watch the process over and over to feel more comfortable with the process. Hands-on participation available.This is not the mandatory training to use the laser engraver, but may help as an accompaniment to the training. No experience necessary. No need to bring anything as the demonstration will be decided in advance.
