A paradigm shift in the way that we view fatness. A film about fat, family, the complexities of change and the deep, messy feelings we hold about our bodies. Made over 6 years, director Jeanie Finlay charts the rise of writer and activist Aubrey Gordon from anonymous blogger to NYTimes best selling author and beloved podcaster. Her aim? A paradigm shift in the way we see fat people and the fat on our own bodies. Her life changing work has brought her an ardent, international audience but also threats to her life. The veterans who have served our nation bear the daily burden of their untold stories. The Red Badge Project was established by former Army Captain Evan Bailey and actor and Air Force Veteran Tom Skerritt to lift that weight. The Red Badge Project is dedicated to improving the lives of veterans by sharing storytelling skills to help them manage the challenges of PTS, TBIs, moral injury, and more. Bi-monthly classes for veterans are offered in conjunction with the Vet Centers in Walla Walla, Seattle, Federal Way, Everett, and Spokane. At this event, we are honored to be some of the first people outside of the Red Badge Project classroom to hear these stories.

The 9th Annual Walla Walla Movie Crush celebrates the most intoxicating blend of American short cinema over the course of three days in July 2025. Once again, the festival will showcase narratives, documentaries, animation, music videos and experimental films grouped in hour-long, thematic blocks. The WWMC will showcase over 100 new shorts from Oscar®-winners, household names, rising stars and wunderkinds. On July 18, at 7 PM, Gesa Power House Theatre welcomes to the stage Kira Soltanovich. Kira Soltanovich is a comedian, actress, and writer best known for her correspondent work on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno for almost 9 years. She was the Phony Photo Booth, which turned into the show’s longest-running comedy piece. (that didn’t have Jay in it). Kira teams up with Jay Leno again in the You Bet Your Life game show reboot in syndication on FOX now. Kira has a half-hour stand-up special on Showtime called Here Comes Trouble and a one-hour stand-up special on Amazon called You Did This To Me. She’s the sidekick to host Donald Faison on the Netflix game show, Winsanity and she’s been a recurring comedian on several FOX television shows: Punchline and The Drama. Kira was a series regular on two seasons of TruTV’s How To Be A Grownup, and also shot two seasons of the Facebook series The Turndown which was shot exclusively in a bed. Many of her fans remember her from the hidden camera show, Girls Behaving Badly, where she was a series regular for 4 seasons. Kira has been featured on Comedy Central, NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Nickelodeon, several Disney shows, and one of her most unique claim to fame moments came when Hell’s Kitchen made her the “prize” for the winning team of chefs who got a night out at The Laugh Factory on the Sunset Strip. Kira was born in the former Soviet Union, was traded for grains from the United States and immigrated in American when she was 2 years old. Kira honed her comedy chops all throughout grade school and up until high school graduation. It’s amazing how telling an angry principal a few jokes can get you out of serious trouble. Susan Rice was recently featured in Vulture Magazine for her widely popular appearance on Don’t Tell Comedy, which garnered over 1 millions views. Susan has made appearances on ABC, NBC, Hbo, Showtime, and comedy central. Moving to Los Angeles in 1986 brought television credits and allowed her to open for comics like Jerry Seinfeld, Rich Shydner, Paula Poundstone, and recently Maria Bamford & Arsenio Hall. In the last 10 years, Rice has found her niche in fundraising and organizing charity events such as the first-ever St. Johns Comedy Festival held in her own neighborhood of N. Portland.
