These studio classes are designed to strengthen your student’s creativity and skills in working with a variety of art materials. Students can bring their own creative ideas then make those ideas come to life with the guidance of our teaching artist. Our teaching artist can also provide suggestions and ideas to get started, and demonstrate drawing and painting techniques. We’ll use 2D materials like paint, artist pencils, paper, pastels, markers, more! Students can attend any classes that fit in their schedule, or register for all classes in this session. Students should arrive dressed to create and can use one canvas per class, or as much paper as needed for their project. This class is limited to 8 students so that each student receives individual instruction. Class will run Tuesday nights April 7th – May 12th 6pm – 9pm This class is perfect for beginner to intermediate wheel throwing students. Whether you’ve taken a pottery class before or this is your first time using the wheel, you will be able to develop your ceramic skills to create beautiful functional pieces. We will cover foundational topics including centering, handle making, throwing functional forms (cups, bowls, plates, etc.), trimming, and surface decorations. Come and learn the joys of making art you can use! More InformationPlease note that this workshop takes place in the Utility Works basement, which is only accessible via stairs. The class requires participants to be able to sit and/or stand for at least three hours and use their hands for two hours. You must be able to lift 25lbs. There are two gender-neutral bathrooms available for students, including one that is ADA accessible. At this event, you can bring art supplies you no longer want (but are still usable) for others to take, and pick up new supplies for yourself from what others have brought. The event will take place on April 11th at Utility Works. Drop-off of supplies will open at 11 am and end at 2 pm, and the “shopping” period for supplies will last from 12 pm to 4 pm.
