8th Grade Activity Day – May 20th (Celebration) 8th Grade Dance – May 21st (Celebration) 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony – May 22nd @ 11:30am (Based on passing grades at deadline)   To participate in these celebrations, scholars must meet the following qualifications between the following dates January 29, 2026 – May 13, 2026:   Academic Expectations ✅ Final Grade Deadline: May 18th is the last day grades will be reviewed to determine participation for the dance and activity day. Passing Grades: Scholars must have a 65 or higher in all core courses.   Attendance Requirement Scholars must maintain 80% or better for attendance to attend Activity Day and the 8th Grade Dance; however, they may still participate in the Promotion Ceremony if they meet all other criteria.   District Device Return: All district devices must be returned to Mrs. Pinckney, (our librarian) before Promotion Ceremony. The specific date to return district devices will be communicated after State Testing is complete.   Behavior Expectations Including Academic expectation, the following behavior expectations are required to attend the 8th Grade Dance and 8th Grade Activity Day.   Have fewer than five Level-I Minor Offenses (Refer to the R1 Student Code of Conduct). Have fewer than four Level-II Intermediate Offenses. Have NO Level-III Major Offenses.   Promotion Ceremony Dress Code · Attire for the Promotion Ceremony is semi-formal. · Scholars must follow the Richland One dress code policy to participate in the ceremony. · Please contact  Ms. L. Jones  (8th Grade School Counselor) or  Mrs. Roberson  (School Social Worker) if you have any dress code concerns, to ensure appropriate attire is worn.     We want every 8th grader to be a part of these exciting events!
