Semester 2 Come have fun, try new things and make fun projects!   We will experiment with new skills and materials, hear some stories and use our imaginations! Art Club for grades 1, 2 & 3 or age equivalent. (Kindergarten students can join Thursdays starting in January – see bottom of the page) We will meet Wednesdays from 3:15 – 4:15.  Epping Elemenary students will be picked up and walked down from school by CCS Staff. Non-walker information below.   Register for a 4 week “Session” or a full “Semester” and receive a semester discount.                              If you are registering by session, you must renew your registration monthly by emailig Vandy at [email protected] or speaking to her directly  on or before the 2nd day of the current session. Epping students will be picked up at school and walked down to the Arts Center by the Creative Community Space group leader.  Students should bring a snack to eat before we begin Art Club activities. Homeschooled students or students coming from other school districts should arrive at Creative Community Space by 3:40 (and eat a snack before they come) You will find the registration form at the link below.  Upon receiving your registration & payment for an Epping Elementary Student we will email you a “Walkers’ Release”  before your first session that will allow us to pick your child up at school. *Please note:  We follow the SAU 14 school calendar. Registration Deadline: ADVANCED REGISTRATION FOR FALL IS HIGHLY ENCOURAGED.  Please invite your child/youth’s friend to join Art Club. Cancellation Policy:  Advanced registration can be refunded in full by December 22nd for the Art Club session of the new year.  Credit is given for a future activity or art club if cancellation is on or after December 22nd. No refunds after the 4-week session has begun.   If a refund is requested for a half-year registration the refund will be pro-rated as if you had registered session to session up until the refund date. Registration deadlines for each session follow the above protocol.  The deadline is 2 weeks before a session begins.  Always feel free to email us and ask if there is space if the deadline has passed. There will be 1 make-up day offered/semester for Art Club days that may have been missed due to snow/school cancellation or teacher illness. The last class filled so please register early. Come learn about clay! Where it comes from, how it is used, and how it can be made into thousands of items.  Over these 6 weeks, we will focus on learning skills and tool use to create lasting clay pieces. These items will be fired in a kiln, and then students will paint or glaze them.  If they are glazed, they will be fired in the kiln again to make a functional ceramic piece.  Projects will vary from specific skill-building to free-choice with skill demonstration. *This is an introduction to Hand-Building with clay. This class is for students in 1st grade through 8th grade or age equivalent. Clay is a medium that is easy to differentiate for different age/grade levels. This class will run 6 weeks.  Thursdays from 11 – 12:15,  April 16th, 23, May 7, 14, 21, 28. We need a minimum of 5 students to run this class – Maximum of 10. “It’s Alive!” (Stuffed Animal Puppets): (Grades 3 & up, 2-2.5 Hrs.) What would happen if Dr. Frankenstein were let loose in a toy shop?  Now I know what you are thinking: my child will be devastated and traumatized if we cut their favorite stuffed animal apart to create a puppet!  Relax, my friends, I will supply an array of cleaned, used stuffed animals to dissect.  This class is a great and unique way to teach students about hand puppets.  In this class, each student will begin with a stuffed animal, which we will then proceed to turn into a hand puppet by opening it up, learning to pattern its mouth, and constructing & installing a mouth plate.  Miraculously, this will animate a formerly inanimate object, turning it from a mere toy into a puppet. Creative Community Staff will pick students up at Epping Elementary School and walk them down to the Art Center.  Students who are commuting should arrive by 3:35. We currently have 3 interested students.  Please reach out if your child would like to join MS Art Club!  [email protected] Come create your way!  Middle School Art Club is a social art group that is full of choice!  Students are shown tools and techniques and given some examples of the ways they are used and can then explore their own creativity.  The group is also shown examples of how art is powerful!  This feeds their creative self-esteem as they create for self-expression. Please reach out if you have questions about this group!  [email protected] Students walk down from the Epping Middle School on their own- to arrive at the Art Center around 2:30.  (Vandy will walk them down the first time – and again if requested) Students from districts other than Epping should be dropped off by 2:40. If your student would like to join in the middle of a session (session = 4 meetings) please reach out by email to see if this is possible. You may pay by the session or for the full semester and receive a discount. Glaze is then $5.00/ pound of clay used. This includes your second firing to make your creation a functional ceramic piece. This is an All Ages event. Drop in no registration needed. *Open Art is Free to Members of Creative Community Space, they only pay the $5.00 materials fee on clay and glaze nights- see our website for membership details. First come/first serve for spaces.  Cash is preferred but cards are accepted. Masks are optional, this is a no-judgment zone!!!
